Very interesting! Does anyone know how it works? (And if it works?)

| | Re: The iPhone 3G thread and FAQ
An update for my Orange Iphone Order Case.
I was away for 2 weeks and I got 3 different SMSs about my order status from Orange.
First one says " We are going to deliver your order withing a few days"
2 days later; second one says " We are happy to confirm that we will be able to deliver your order within 3 weeks"
2 weeks later from last message as an email and SMS are saying "Your order has been sent to you" but haven't got my order for about week.
I called orange customer desk to check the status. They said they have already posted on 26th July and would let me know the post tracking number.
I have got the number checked on post.ch The package dispatched to post distrubution center but after that point there was no record on log. I called to customer services of post to check. They said "package is lost and they need 2 - 3 weeks to investigate."
I called back orange to let them know. They said " we can not do to anything as we are out of stock and you need to wait result of investigation to get refund or other compensation". I asked the agent then why do they still advertise iphone everywhere if they are out of stock. No Answer as you can imagine.
After that point I asked to agent let me talk with his supervisor because he was already started to shout at me like my service call 3 weeks ago and giving standart answers like " you should wait like all others "
I told the supervisor I don't care about iphone anymore but how does orange treat its customers ? He tried to explain me the situation and almost accepted how orange messed up with this. At least he was honest on behalf of his company.
Now I'm waiting for a call from supervisor regarding solution.
Be aware; I'm not the only one whos order package is lost in post delivery ( according both orange and post customer services ) most probably they are stolen.Orange trying to make a decision either send a new one or to do something else for these customers.

Orange have been terribly disorganised with the iPhone, I really don't believe it's impossible to anticipate high demand and at least track orders properly, I have no idea why it went so wrong for them.

In the 29 years I have lived in Switzerland, the Swiss Post has not ONCE lost a package addressed to me or mailed by me. Perhaps the dispo messed up?

Why launch in more countries when the phone's not available in the previous ones????

If that's the case then no problem...I've learnt to get pretty good at waiting over the last few weeks
EDIT: Just tried it again and it's still not been switched on. My activation was at about noon yesterday, so the 24 hours estimate looks optimistic...

They're not helping themselves. I get a phone but nothing else so have to contact Orange. Then I get a SIM but nothing else so have to contact Orange. Then I get no data connection so have to contact Orange, when they could have told me when they activated the SIM that it might take a while. If they are complaining about high phone traffic, well 3 calls from me would have been unnecessary if they were the slightest bit organised
[still nothing for me, about 28 hours later]

[still nothing for me, about 28 hours later] | | | | | Ditto. It's been a comedy of errors. I saw a quote somewhere from their CEO Wetter, saying the whole thing had been a valuable learning experience for them. It's been a pretty interesting experience from a customer point of view as well... |

Most just looked like low traffic sites and were basically just regurgitating the sales script - no user reviews that I could see...
EDIT: Although for USD 23.50 inc shipping, I could be tempted to give it a go.... |

do i need to go to a swisscom shop to activate it? | | | | | AFAIK natel easy packages are activated in-store - but you can use a different SIM card with it once you're at home

before 2.0, visual voicemail was not available. in fact, i was just playing around with my phone for a laugh today and noticed that it now works.
great!

great! | | | | | make sure you get some kind of data plan - Visual Voicemail messages are transmitted as data packets. Data volume amassed by this is included in the iPhone plans but not in the other Swisscom plans.
Also make sure that Visual Voicemail is disabled when you're abroad!

thats good solid advice there!
i have a data plan for chf 10 per month which seems to be enough for my current needs.
Do you think that by turning off data roaming in the settings, it will turn off the visual voicemail?

| | Are Swisscom iPhones more easily available now?
The Swisscom online shop is still showing no availability for any of the iPhone models. I was just wondering if they are more easily available in the physical Swisscom shops or elsewhere?
I am looking for a 16GB Black.
