| | How do I configure my iPhone to receive / send Bluewin e-mail?
Please don't flame me for not doing a search - I did, and I also scrolled through all gazillion pages of the iPhone 3G thread but couldn't find the answer to my question
I bought an iPhone in the US and unblocked it. I'm now using a Bluewin SIM card with the pay as you go data option. It works well, allowing me to check stock prices, the weather etc.
The only thing I can't do is check my Bluewin email. It works fine with my yahoo mail account, but I don't seem to be able to find any guide (I've checked the bluewin and apple.ch websites) to setting up a Bluewin email account
Can someone PLEASE help me by telling me how to do it, or post a link?
And I assume this question must have been answered somewhere in these forums but I'm blasted if I can find the relevant post. So sorry if this duplicates advice which is already out there

You may find the answer here: http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/11/iphone-3g-review/
I think you can only push emails from your Yahoo! account. If you don't want to read the whole article, do a search in the page on word "Yahoo"
Not sure, but hope this helps.
Cheers, Yopo

You also need to consider the 3G network coverage, a point for which Swisscom is much better.
IMHO your best option is to get to another Swisscom shop.

Thanks Yopo
My Yahoo mail is actually working fine - the iPhone itself organised the setup of Y mail just as it seems to do with G Mail etc
What I'm struggling with is the configuration I need to enter in order to get access to Bluewin email.

Not yet - I assumed that this was such a generic question that there would be loads of info about how to do it. Bluewin is (I assume) the biggest email service in CH so presumably every iPhone user needs to configure this
I was amazed that the info doesn't appear to be obviously available, so I will call them if nobody can help me

Good luck and let us know how it works out as some of us might need this info soon.. |

Thanks for this I'll give it a go
I'm trying to avoid calling the helpline. I can get by in French but I don't want to look like a technomoron for not being able to do something so simple...

Hey I was wondering how to get Push email to work with my Yahoo! account. The push hasn't been working and is really starting to get on my nerves . Other than that I am LOVING the iPhone. Even though Oranges coverage is so so, I am always around wifi and the only time I use 3G is on the tram and when I'm in town. I also recently downloaded Koi Pond. It is an extremely great application and shows off the features of the iPhone very well. That being said it is a bit useless and gets a bit boring after a while but still it's very relaxing. 4/5 Stars. I recommend it to all of you.

today i have read in german news mag "der spiegel" an interview with the minister of media in europe about cutting mobile fon costs by european law. the minister said, that she got notice about one german bloke having used his iphone in austria the way he does back home in germany and ended up with a bill about 11.000 EUROS!
i mean we all know about roaming costs but i was shocked as 2 MB transfer cost 6-12euros?! be aware of that. would be nice if we all could share our experiences on that.

I doubt that it's a problem with the phone - it's more likely to be a problem with Yahoo.
If you delete your Yahoo account from your iPhone, and then re-enter the details, this can sometimes work. Otherwise, for me, push would work maybe 1 day a week (at best). I tried looking around on the internet, and whilst this problem seems common, there doesn't seem to be any answer to it.
If you're lucky, someone at Orange may be able to help you. But my experience is that the people in the phone shops don't have much in the way of technical skills; you probably know more about your phone than they do.

I've used my iphone abroad on several occasions in the last month, in much the same way I used to use my HTC thing. Roaming charges are not new, nor are they iphone-specific. My bills for using it while abroad are in the region of CHF10 or so since I don't use the phone unless necessary or else very judicious use of wifi networks comes to the fore. This has been the case for about 3 years with me. It's a pain but hey...
I reckon anyone who buys a T-Mobile G1/Android thing ought to write a letter of thanks to Cupertino for kicking the phone market up the ar$e and forcing the phone suppliers to provide useable gadgets. Oh, and while I'm here... they ought to extend the recall for power bricks to Lausanne since mine stopped working about 2 weeks ago.

Prices are extreme - unless you absolutely don't find an other way to access the internet (like the ubiquitous WLAN access points all over the world), I wouldn't use the phone for data abroad.

Looks like Swisscom has stopped selling the iPhone 3G Prepaid package: http://forum.swisscom-mobile.ch/de/f...s.asp?TID=2071
EDIT: this has officially been confirmed! Meaning that those who lose their iPhone, have it stolen or break it are definitely screwed.

Loose/break the phone, keep paying till the end of the contract regardless..
