The option to turn the Auto-Correction off is apparently coming in firmware 2.2.

Well, I got myself a new iPhone over the weekend from Swisscom
So far, so good. And with any luck, this one will hopefully live longer than the last one! It's nice to be reunited with technology ...
I've been able to get the push on my Gmail account working. But I was wondering if there was any way of pushing my Gmail calendar to my iPhone as well?? Does anybody know?

peter | | | | | Well, it definitely is ... for both Yahoo and Gmail. If you go to add an account, you will see that Yahoo and Gmail are offered as email service providers, which I presume must mean that they both support push to iPhones.
On my last iPhone, the push wasn't very reliable for either of my Yahoo or Gmail accounts. Though, I have friends who say that push has been working fine for their Yahoo or Gmail account. So far, on my new iPhone, the push is working ok ... mind you, it's only a few days old.
If only I can also push my calendar to my iPhone!

Regarding the calendar, what calendar application do you sync with? I use iCal and import my Google Calendar and sync that way, only one-way though.

Currently, I am not syncing my calendar with any application. Is iCal available through the App Store? Is it easy to use?

Importing Google Calendar, or any other calendar for that matter, directly to your iPhone isn't possible as far as I know. It needs to go through whatever you use on your computer to iTunes, and then finally to your phone.

Over-the-air syncing between your computer and the phone only works with Macs (and requires a MobileMe subscription - further info on this can be found here: www.me.com).
You can get push e-mail and web-calendar syncing through a free service called live.mail2web.com. Simply set up an account there and have your gmail e-mail forwarded to your new mail2web address. Then set up your account on the iPhone using this tutorial: http://blog.mail2web.com/2008/09/set...3g-activesync/
regards,
Peter

Just a quick note that may be of some help to some of you in an unfortunate set of circumstances...
Unfortunately, I had the misfortune of both external HDDs failing on me, therefore losing all my itunes music/tv shows/etc. If you go to the itunes website, you can contact support directly and they'll let you re-download (at their discretion, they may not allow multiple downloads if you are negligent too often!) all of your purchases...saved me a lot of time, effort and money, but hopefully you wont need this info!

Huge bad luck to lose two drives though - hope you get it sorted.

All good now, just had to spend a fortune on getting 2 new ones!! Have to say their customer support is top notch...guaranteed response in 48 hours, including Saturdays.
(disclaimer: i am not a huge apple/mac fan, i only own an iPhone...however my next purchase may be a mac if their service is usually this good!)

All these functions are lacking in the iphone? | | | | | not sure about the SMS forwarding. MMS isn't supported (that's the one missing feature I really don't mind not having) and neither are business cards. I've never sent a business card from any of my previous (business) phones, so I don't need that, either. I've never forwarded an SMS, either, btw :-) Since I've had the iPhone, I more or less completely replaced SMS by E-Mail, which is much cheaper anyway. Just make your friends enable push on their phones - push in some iteration is present on 90% of all handsets sold today.
I'm not trying to downplay missing features here - I just personally never thought any of the ones mentioned here were useful - but acknowledge that some people may miss them.
