It's just the second children I was wondering about. I think it's fine for people to have third, fourth, fifth etc children, but I don't think they should have second children.

However, I think people should refrain from having third or fourth toasters (and of course, as already stated, second toasters are out of the question). A fifth toaster would be OK.

Toasted bread don't fall out. They just pop up and then back down again to keep warm in the slots -- in case you're not ready to eat them yet.

Heh, nice observation. No, actually I am, myself, second in line to the Yards fortune!

I think in all truth that boredom may possibly be the reason for my bizarre posts today. Not sure what my excuse for other days is, though.

Another fine, cogent response from the wise Argus! You are indeed a font.

Don't have a second child. Get a Labrador.

It's all becoming much clearer to me ... so the second child is for biting. Thanks!

(I guess you are aware that "Charlie bit my finger" is the third most watched video of all time on YouTube -- and closing in on #2 and #3? It's spawned a whole industry of its own!)

Now that's cute!

So anyway, I've been thinking about this for several minutes today: why do people get second pets? I mean, I have a paper shredder in my office and it's very nice, I use it every day , but I don't ...

Having one child makes you a parent; having two you are a referee.

Actually, no, I had no clue!

My own favorite is the Mean Kitty Song:

Regarding the topic though, as the #2 (of 5) child in my family I have this to say:
My elder sister's birthday is 9 months after my father's birthday.
My first brother's birthday is 9 months after my mother's birthday.
My younger sister's birthday is 9 months after my parent's wedding anniversary.
My baby brother's birthday is a well known 9 months after my dad returned from training in Tennessee to arrive in Okinawa (where we were) in time for us all to be stuck indoors with a heavy duty typhoon.

My own birthday is 9 months after nothing particular...

When I was old enough to put this together and bold enough to point it out to my father, his answer was that I was born 9 months after my folks reaffirmed their deep abiding love for each other.

(I look back at it now and think my older sis was probably a hellion who disrupted their lives for over a year - we're 22mos apart - and when they finally had a chance and took it, they wound up with me )

Why do people have 5 kids or more?
Well, in my case, as soon as we found out what was causing it we stopped.

As I mentioned before, I'm a #2 too, so to speak. Using your laudable logic, it would appear that my older brother kept my parents on their toes (or at least otherwise preoccupied) for over six years, while I was an infantile angel; my younger brother is living proof that breast feeding is not reliably contraceptive!

Bonkers - the second children are the good ones!

Also, they are required. What else would you do with the clothes the first one grows out of?

That's a great video! And 26 million views ... good going!

"Charlie bit my finger" has over 121 million views now. Amazing what a well-timed bit of home video can do.

Well, you'd give 'em to the third and subsequent children, of course!

According to my parents, if my sister would have been the first one, there would not have been a second one. naively they assumed all children are as angelic as me
