An ex-colleague told me she was alarmed by Tom Hanks in Speedos in 'Angels and Demons' but he didn't really appear in them - just the idea spooked her. Is it true?

Yeah, I saw it, but I didn't think much of it. It's an enjoyable enough action flick, I suppose. But it didn't quite "pop" for me... It just didn't evoke the true horrors that await us in the coming Robot Apocalypse...

Re: Movie recommendations?

I watched this over the weekend - one of the best films I've seen to date - absolutely heart wrenching and harsh but well worth your time:

Re: Movie recommendations?

I like Eisenstien and Tarkovsky's films especially Andrei Rublev- but my husband just falls asleep, when they start!

The best of my recent buys were: Good Night and Good Luck. Syriana, Borat.

And of course there is always Fellini.

That's funny. I actually thought, mmmhhh, wonder what's he look like once he steps out from that water. But no, niet!!!
I like to think he was not wearing anything, not because it was Tom Hank, but just like that you know, for the sheer pleasure of it

The John Adams mini series. Mostly about Adams and Jefferson. Two real Presidents who protected freedom from their own government!

I know man. I have been following up on this for a long, long time.
The wikipedia entry says it releases in March, 2010.
And I guess we will have to wait a few more months after that for the DVD release.
The Trailer for 'The Pacific' is out...

Amistad. Watched it again last weekend on DVD. Nice movie.
On similar lines (court cases), I recommend 'A time To Kill' and 'My Cousin Vinny'.

Its great.Watched 'X-Men Origins:Wolverine', which I found nice too. Faithful to the comic storyline.

I had never even heard of the Iron Man until last night, and it was only because it was on Teleclub i watched it.

I recently watched Hostel 2 on DVD (WARNING MEN SHOULD NOT WATCH THIS)

It's woefully cheesy though. Some cracking oneliners that would make Sly Stallone or even Steven Segal proud...

Re: Movie recommendations?

'Pride and Glory' (2008) starring Edward Norton, Jon Voight and Colin Farrell. Plot: Family of NYC cops involved in corruption, redemption and tough personal choices. Intense story and creditable acting. Mr Norton has a scene which reminded me of 'Fight Club' and brought a smile to my mug.

(The German title on the DVD is 'Das Gesetz der Ehre'.)

Re: Movie recommendations?

Haven't seen any decent movies in ages but then this weekend saw *Gone baby Gone* and it's really good, nice to see something good for a change. I've half-watched so many movies in the last few months, it's becoming a joke! Is it me, or is the movie industry churning out mediocre semi-good if-you've-nothing-better-to-do movies like they're going out of fashion?!
