"Once" - a fantastic film, "I am Legend" - likewise, The Bourne Trilogy is good action, "Local Hero", "The Commitments", "Master and Commander", "The Last of the Mohicans", "Empire of the Sun", "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"

I agree with the Bourne Trilogy, very good...
But I've got to say I saw "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and hated it, depressing, trying to be clever for the sake of being clever....Irritating.

A Beautiful Mind with Russel Crowe - fantastic! To think that this is the same guy who plays the absolutely ultimate Gladiator

Winter is on it's way, the evenings are getting longer I'm in need to of some good movies to watch. Over the last 4/5 years haven't had much time to watch movies like I use to do and cinema visits are rare(my son is 4). Recently I dug out the Godfather movies, Goodfellas, Star wars, Matrix and watch them again but when it comes to good movies that have been recently made I'm sadly ignorant. Any Movies/films you've seen that you would recommend?

Agreed to an extent about spotless mind, but still gripping - but it just depends if you like those kinds of movies.

A propos Beautiful Mind mentioned above - that film is great, but I am annoyed they distorted so many of the actual real life facts to fit with a typical Hollywood movie plot for the idea of an American hero - the same director did something similar for Apollo 13

I think this might be out on DVD now.......1000% worth a purchase.

Also 'Blood Diamond' & 'The Last King Of Scotland' are worth buying.
These were definitely my favourite films in last couple of months. Both breathtaking!!! Especially I enjoyed sound track from 'Blood Diamond'.

Have you seen 'Hotel Rwanda' as well?

I couldn't believe Katherine Heigl agreed to play in that film, 27 Dresses was more becoming of her.

Great film - a hippy reinvention and indictment of features of western society while very funny

Re: Movie recommendations?

I recommend you to see "LOST" there is season 1 which has about 7 cd`s and on each cd there is about 3 episodes. This will definately keep you going for at least a couple of weeks depending how many you watch through the night. Then you have "LOST" season 2 with 7 cd`s and 3 episodes on each as well. This will entertain you through those wintery nights.

Re: Movie recommendations?

Little Miss Sunshine is hilarious.
The Queen has a brilliant performance from Helen Mirren
Walk the Line is entertaining but you need to like that type of music

Re: Movie recommendations?

My favourite old Movie, apart from the excellent Marx brothers movies, is 'To Kill a Mocking Bird' Gregory Peck plays Atticus and is brilliant. I have lots of old Movies and I love them, it's the recent stuff I haven't a clue about.
