Re: Movie recommendations

Saw 'Burn After Reading' (one of the Cohen brothers' productions) last night on DVD. Hilarious, even though Brad Pitt was overacting. Frances McDormand was excellent.

"I have a drinking problem? F**k you, Peck, you're a Mormon. Compared to you we ALL have a drinking problem!"

From recent comedies I recommend Get Him to the Greek. Russell Brand is an aquired taste, but the movie is really funny. The Central Park jogging scene almost made me choke from laughter.

Re: Movie recommendations

For me this is the film of the year and has just been shortlisted for the oscars. I went to the Premiere, met Hetherington, bought the book, got involved in his website, so I am so happy that he has been shortlisted

The Medal of Honor winner is one of the men covered in this film of the Korengal valley- deadliest place on earth

Junger, the author of the best-selling book, War, first achieved prominence for his seminal work, The Perfect Storm. This month, Hetherington, the photographer and author of the new book, Infidel, wrote a Vanity Fair profile of Salvatore Giunta, who this week became the first living Medal of Honor winner since the Vietnam War. Hetherington also conducted an exclusive interview with Giunta for VF.com.

Re: Movie recommendations

For Hindi/Bollywood movie lovers, I would love to recommend to watch a comedy movie Golmaal 3. It is best in entire Golmaal series. I have watched it online here:-

Cheers,
Neha.

I loved how the theme of the movie is how erroneous the US government might be.

I also liked Body of Lies by Ridley Scott, with L. DiCarpio and Russell Crowe. A gritty portrayal of operatives working against terrorism.

Re: Movie recommendations

A few movies I have watched recently which I think were pretty good are:

Heartbreaker: A French movie which is quite light and amusing.
The Chaser: A Korean movie about a serial killer which was excellent.
Winter's Bone: An American movie set in the backwoods USA which was brilliant.
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo: I liked it but I thought it was very grim.

I am going to be watching Inception this week as I have got hold of a bluray version. I hope it lives up to the hype.

Re: Movie recommendations

Hi, I have a question.

I love a good psycho stalker film (as in thriller, not slashing, hacky murderer ones, although they're not so bad either). I have watched: Fatal Attraction, Unlawful Entry, The Hand that Rocks the Cradle, Cape Fear, The Crush and Fear. Does anyone have any other recommendations for this sort of film? Thanks!

The only ones that come to mind at the mo' are Pacific Heights (Michael Keaton; not a killer but pretty nasty), Psycho (the Bates Motel one by Hitchcock), Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs.

Re: Movie recommendations

Definitely want to watch some of these recommendations, that time of year to catch up with some good movies.

Anyone seen 2012? I fast forwarded most of it to see if the ending was as bad as the beginning and the middle, and it was..

Re: Movie recommendations

I've seen The Shining, The Hitcher and Hard Candy (all excellent films). Copycat was on my list to watch (I love Sigourney Weaver), but I've never heard of Duel - will definitely investigate! Am currently watching Crushed. I was caught a bit off-guard by the gore (simply because I wasn't expecting it, but now I'm aware it's gory it's fine), it's definitely up to modern film standards on that front. So far seems like a rip-off of Fatal Attraction, but I will definitely see it through to the end. Thanks again for all the suggestions.
