I loved the first season of Heroes, but season 2 dissappointed me enough that I haven't got more than one episode into the current season.
I agree. Heros1 was so great. The rest are total rubbish. This is the type of show that should have just ended where it did. I don't know why American shows just don't end.

Ok having said that, I really wish Pushing Daisies would have continued a bit longer. I just love love it.

I'll check out 30 Rock. I've only see it one or two times.

We seem to pretty much agree on that.

IMO The script is "all over the place" and I suspect the reason for that is that the writers not only have to make sure that there is at least one spectacular scene in each episode (to keep the ratings high) they also have to satisfy all the main actors, resulting in a total mess.
I feel they have forgotten what appealed to people at the beginning of Heroes which was finding out if the characters really had powers and how they delt with them. Also the beauty and darkness of New York (at least what was supposed to be New York). Now all that is gone and we are left with an all action children's series. Pity!

I -adore- 30 rock. Its the first thing I've seen in a long time that makes me laugh so hard it hurts. And I love Alec Baldwin's charecter.
Thanks for the reminder: must get 30 Rock as I watched a part of an episode ages ago and thought it v.good so stopped watching so that I could see it from the beginning at a later date - it looked very funny. We love Boston Legal though it is getting a bit tired now but again it can be very funny. I love Never mind the Buzzcocks, I have got news for you and at the moment I'm really into 2 UK TV history costume dramas Little Dorrit and The Devil's Whore... last night on BBC a new drama started Wallander adapted from Henrik Mankell's brilliant Books, had my doubts to begin with but Kenneth Brannagh makes a brilliant Wallander.

Re: Are you addicted to a TV series?

I find the GE jokes in 30 rock particularly hilarious- one episode Alex Baldwin's character cheers himself up by painting a portrait of his boss at GE, and when another character says "Wow, that's really good" (in a amazed-at-your-talent-but-marvelling-at-your-insanity kinda way) he replies "You like it?! I'll paint you one!"

I laughed so hard, I was choking. That company has a cultish corporate culture that they manage to pick up and yet mock perfectly. And of course, I adore teasing my cult-member husband about it

I like Friends too. It is so cleverly written, there is a lot of traditional sitcom humour in it but also a lot of absurd humour. Brilliant!

My guilty (and top secret) pleasure is Ugly Betty. She's so damn cheerful, I find myself loathfully adoring her.

I sometimes feel like I am the only person who has never watched Friends. I used to watch a series that was described as the British equivalent, 'Coupling'. I found some of them really funny.

Conversely I got Friends (it was shown in English here on TSI 10 years ago), but missed out on Coupling. I did catch the odd episode while visiting family in the UK and really wanted to see it here. I am currently catching up on Frasier (Channel 4 weekday mornings at 10:00), which I had got hooked on back in the UK, and interrupted by me moving here. I've only seen it here on Swiss TV in French and was disappointed with the translation (purely a personal taste thing, it just didn't work for me).

The Sopranos? 24? Prison Break? Are you addicted to a TV series?

My girlfriend and I started watching Prison Break a little while ago and were soon hooked - watching up to 4 episodes a day. A mate of mine downloaded them all via P2P so it was easy to watch more than one a week

Right now we have finished the whole of season 1 and watched the first episode of season 2. The 2nd episode of season 2 comes out tonight in the US, and my mate said he is ready to download it via bit torrent as soon as it hits the net.

What's your favourite series? Do you often watch the whole series as quickly as possible?

You can use this thread to also discuss anything else related to your favourite series, including plot lines etc.
yestrday we finished the season 6 of 24. the day before yesterday we were on the second last cd and watched 4 episodes althought it was a working day but it was so hard to close it. totally thrilling. and i mysef am hooked on to the young and the restless, may be a bit old fashioned but i like it.

really good, exactly as you say it's a stylish 50s drama, just like any historical costume drama I've seen and I have to say it's spot on.. it really digs into the depths of the 50s both in the Mad industry, office shenanigans and family life.. it just hooked me in with it's dark, ugly underside. And I must say, the last thing I watched that had similar depth was the Sopranos.

So lucky - we have Sky plus so I can tape everything, all I watch is what I have recorded and very little TV.. just have to keep an eye out for the good stuff
