Re: Are you addicted to a TV series?

Oh, as far as 'historical' series are concerned, I absolutely adored Rome. I thought it was incredibly well paced, and damnit all. Titus Pullo. Need I say more?

I really hate watching tv shows while they're on tv for some reason. Waiting for the weekly installment drives me nutsy. I want instant satisfaction. So either I wait until a show has ended to watch it, or I buy season by season and watch a whole season in a hit.

On the plus side this means I may have the largest DVD collection known to man. On the minus side, I often buy tv shows on DVD and end up really not enjoying them (and having blown lots of cash on them).

A good example is 24. For some reason, I really don't like Jack Bauer, and I want him to get blown up to smithereens. I may have loved it with someone else playing Jack Bauer, but as it stands... meh. I wish I knew that before I bought season 1-5 though (They were on sale and everyone kept going on and on about how I'd loooove 24. They were wrong.)

They along with their other disliked tv-show-on-DVD bretheren are sitting in a large carton in storage in Sydney currently. Sooner or later I have to go about finding homes for those DVDs.

But the DVDs I never ever lend to anyone (and therefore are precious to me) are:
West Wing.
Lost.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Firefly.
Pinky and the Brain. (We're animatronic MICE! Whose genes have been SPLICED!)
Veronica Mars.

I've been unpacking and have found some treasures. One of these days we should organise a dvd swap.

Re: Are you addicted to a TV series?

Ok I'm ultra lame but I watch Grey's Anatomy... I have a very very weird connection with that series. For some strange reason it helps me understand me... (god I need help).

Joking apart, I love the show! But Dr House is still my fave... Hugh Laurie being a sarcastic egomaniac ******* is just... entertainment pure (and quite sexy).

Lynn, Dr. House, definitely the best. I love his witty humor! Also love Grey's Anatomy. Have you seen the spin-off, Private Practice? I just finished watching the first season. It was OK but it doesn't measure up to the other two.

Season 2 just finished in the US. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Mad_Men_episodes

Don't know if it has already been broadcast in CH, but I'd guess this will happen next year.

Thanks for that. It's UK TV so I'm guessing it will be next year too, I'll keep an eye out for it.

We are half way through Season 1 of Mad Men now. I am quite enjoying it, some episodes are fantastic others seem like too much back story and not enough action. Anyway, do you think people really smoked THAT much back in the 50s/60s. It is astonishing to watch. I love the heavily pregnant neighbour who is constantly chugging down glasses of wine while sucking on a cigarette.

Fringe on SF2 Monday nights 22:50 is pretty good. Kinda lame preposition (X-Files meets Frankenstein) but its good none-the-less. Its my favourite on Swiss TV anyway

Re: Are you addicted to a TV series?

House is very essential . I just finished series 5, the end is brilliant. Roll on series 6.

Series 2 of Heroes was most dissapointing, I have heard that 3 is better so will at leaset start watching that.

TV Series discussed

Winter is truly approaching and in order to prepare for my hibernation, I am looking for recommendations of your fav tv series to snuggle up indoors with - there's only so much skiing one can do.

(thanks to my mate) I've a faithful follower of the following series already - always fresh from the US the day after:

1. Criminal Minds
2. Law & Order SVU
3. Heroes
4. Greys Anatomy
5. Gossip Girl

True Blood Season 3 will only return in summer 2010 so its a long wait.

What else?

throw in some King of the Hill, Simpsons, South Park, and I'm happy.
