I'm about to start. Anyone discussing spoilers (for any show), can you please use white text or spoiler tag way in advance? Thanks.

Apparently Two and a Half Men and Big Bang Theory are two shows that are very popular right now, and many friends constantly suggest them to me.

I can't stand watching either, especially Big Bang Theory. Making a random Non sequitur pseudo-scientific comment with a nasally voice, followed by a laugh track is not humour to me.

end rant, cue laugh track.

Don't go any further then, it will continue to stretch the limits of plausability...Some performances are formidable though...I'm 'in' already, gotta see it through now to it's final season

Dexter remains class

Re: TV Series discussed

I have recently been totally hooked on AMC's "The Walking Dead" I thought this show would be just another dumb Sci-Fi series, but it is done brilliantly. The character as well developed and the plot is plausible. There is just enough gore for Zombie lovers, but it's not the whole show, so eye coverers can still be very entertained. I also heard that it is now global, so it should be available on Swiss cable or Sat. Check listing or stream them online. I think it is now the world's highest rated cable drama. Awesome stuff.

Dexter series 6 looks to be a classic in the making.

I love it when Debra Morgan talks dirty

Re: TV Series discussed

Walking Dead is a frustrating show for the moment. Zombie action is always good, but the execution of the show so far leaves much to be desired. I didn't read far into the graphic novels, but enough to see the potential and how the show is just constantly failing to live up to it. It's like the story is right there, but they keep on approaching it from the wrong angles.

And I'm puzzled by people who say the character work in this show is good. Did anyone see the last episode?

People just don't act like this. And that's what the graphic novel did really well in comparison. They felt like real people with decent survival instincts who made logical choices AND still ended up dying in shocking and unexpected ways. The world they live in just that damn cruel and bleak. Things are going to go wrong no matter how hard you try and the only option to avoid that is to curl up and die. The people in the TV show make stupid choices and spend most of their time whining about their feelings and the body count stays low. They don't strike me as the type of people who would survived their first zombie encounter, much less survived this long.

Re: TV Series discussed

I strongly recommend to all Bored to Death or How to Make it in America. Both really well made with Bored to Death being quite funny.

Breaking Bad in my opinion stack-up right agains Mad Men and Dexter as well as The Wire on my list. They just don't get any better than this.

I just started watching Dexter this summer when there was nothing but dumb talent shows one TV and I really got into it. I just finished season 4 -- that ending deeply disturbed me. I'm into season 5 now.

Debra Morgan's mouth grates me nerves and Joseph Quinn is too thin. I liked him better in season 3 when he had some meat on his bones.

I've been going through the first series (only 6 episodes ?????), and quite frankly all it's done for me is tell me what Egg from This Life is doing now.

Ok it's an interesting watch, but really, how often has the "waking up in hospital to find the world has gone to pot" plot line been done now.

Can't complain though, it was in the bargain bin at media markt.

Love Dexter...I think Season 2 is my favorite with Doakes but they all stand on their own quite well, IMHO...Enjoying Season 6 currently

Re: TV Series discussed

Anyone have any idea when Game of Thrones season 2 will be aired here in CH? Also what channel it will be on in and available in English?

I'm with Cablecom and I'm having a bit of a hard time finding details about it.

I'm dying to know!!

[ and In HD preferably. ]

My mate downloads it from piratebay or extratorrent. He could care less about what runs on CH TV

Yeah that is an easy option, but I figure if it's on the TV in HD, then I'd way rather go with that option. Plus I can record them on the PVR.

My mate streams it via PS3 in HD. An application called TED automatically downloads it for him..

That sounds pretty awesome. My PS3 and Xbox 360 are still in Canada though.

I just really want to want it through cable.

Anyone?

Not traditionally a big TV series watcher, but I watched a few episodes of Misfits for a friend, and am now addicted. A bit of a juvenile show, but very entertaining, and fairly well written.

I actually like The Big Bang Theory. I accidentally stumbled upon it one day and then got a bit hooked. I normally can't stand sitcoms (and I agree the laugh tracks are obnoxious), but I do think some of the jokes on that show are funny. Besides, I have a "thing" for geeks.
