Back on Topic - more or less.
Nor my date of birth. The list doesn't start until 1946! In 'our' day, the 'charts' were lists of printed sheet music which people had bought, and presumably played or sang themselves anyway.

I remember singing this in hospital with scarlet fever in 1946. It was written in 1939, the version by Jimmie Davis was recorded for Decca Records on February 5th 1940, so that will do for us both.
I didn't realise until this minute that it was an official song for the State of Louisiana though.
How nice of you ,you made me so happy

The courage of the girl.

I must confess that if that had come up for my date of birth, I would definitely have given the name of the American song, or the Australian one, or simply lied about my date of birth and tried again!

I am that old. I had a crush on Lyn Paul at the time.

This was there 2nd biggest hit after the Coco Cola Ad song "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing"

Mine is "Softly, Softly" by Ruby Murray. That is going back too far.

The trouble with this thread is that some of us remember dancing along to some on the songs that were No 1 when some members were born
