Apt or amusing place names

Quote:
Dougal's Breakfast has visited an interestingly-named town (above), which got me thinking about some of the world's place names that just don't translate all that well ...

Here's one of my favourites. If you've got more, post them here -- but please include a link to Google maps to verify your apt/amusing place name!

It takes 40 minutes to get from Clinton to Gore in Otago.
More appropriate a few years ago, but hey, some of you might remember

Re: Apt or amusing place names

Canton de Vaud has 3 villages, which put aside, give 'Aubonne Gimel Gland', leading to the sentence 'Aux bonnes, j'y mets le gland'... meaning... you are teasing the house personnel...

Re: Apt or amusing place names

My favourite Norfolk place name isn't offensive at all, just very apt: Little Snoring (just down the road from Great Snoring, of course).
