love this. if it can't be expressed with a poker analogy, it probably doesn't matter

Playing nice only gets you smacked in the face.
Don't agree with you at all... after one failed long term relationship with a "bad" girl I swore off 'em - one of the first questions I asked my now wife on our first date was if she was a "good" girl... bad girls and boys are just a hidin to nothin

Agreed Parnell; I just hope that your wife did not have her fingers crossed on that first date!!

How about:

Knowing who his mommy and daddy are is quite nice for a child when he is growing up.

Does that one work?
Yes, absolutely- but it does not have to be la Peter and Jane, mummy is in the kitchen preparing dinner and daddy is in the garage repairing the car - does it! My kids (!) are now 38 and 35, and have always known who daddy is and who mummy is - despite the fact I did all the gardening and the DIY and we shared many other tasks and roles and decided when they were still quite young to study and build a career of my own. Mummy and daddy to not have to follow ye olde trad ways surely (thanks mum and mil for being such good role models, way before your time).

Where did I suggest that it should be?

Seems like you've never had an argument or even a discussion with a woman!

Ofcourse, how can one forget the just in case scenarios!

This confusion seems to account for a large portion of the posts in this thread.

Sorry Sky, I didn't realize you were waiting for a reaction from me. Your female indirectness went straight over my male head.
That's ok.. I didn't expect you to level with me

For the rest, you have a point as you are stating the ways of the world as it always has been. Nevertheless to support these ways and pretend that they are right simply because they exist, can make many women quite annoyed.

Women are just as entitled as men to have it all, if that is what they wish.

I do believe that a young woman who has worked hard to attend university, has become an engineer (instead of marrying one ) can and should be proud of her accomplishments. Her higher education should not be obliterated for fear that the gentleman she is dining with, will be frightened because she is perhaps an "alpha".

There is no indication that a high powered or highly educated young woman has ever been castrating or demanding or in any way a threat to a man's masculinity.

A man can be proud to have a soulmate who is educated, inquisitive, ambitious, hard-working and can stand on her own. It will be a soulmate he can count on throughout pleasures and tribulations.

Guess what ? they can be all of the above, as well as a good mother, and loving spouse and a sexy playmate.

Have you looked down the back of the sofa?

You'd be amazed what you might find there.

Well, if nothing else, at least the beer goggles will be more effective there.
