I am nice, not that highly educated, not earning high income anymore... still i dont/cant find a date. I dont know why, sometime really wonder if it is because i am not blond , or simply i dont have a job that guys like (such as secretary, PR, HR, etc...)? :0

I suggest that I take each of them out on different evenings and report back here whether there are any clues as to why this might be.

This could make for a very colourful post.

Do you work in finance, by any chance? ;)

I think this is a brilliant idea.

Of course, we'll be wanting pictures. :)

I'm going to make my stand right now: I'm 36, single, and I am thoroughly ambivalent toward skiing and snowboarding. There, I said it.

Will la police des étrangers take away my residence permit for that?

Don't let yourself believe that one point to be offputting. I am the same, regarding snow sports and snow in general.

I've found most Swiss people I've met (on confessing), once recovered from the shock, will then be quizzical about what can possibly be left, to lead a fullfiling and interesting life ;)

That is your chance! Dazzle them with your Off Piste talents.

humm... I guess yes, but not always easy to accept and I'll give an example here.

I have a decent job, car, house, wear a suit and seem to live one of these "young professional" lifestyles during the day time. But when night falls, I hang out in heavy metal/goth circles, listen to electro dark, go to "scene" events where the entertainment is 'peculiar' (anything but your standard pub or disco night outs) and I like this type of lifestyle more than my 9to5 work week. I'm more "myself" during out of office hours, I'm "me".

So should this mean that I need to be on the lookout for the good little girl-next-door type person that lives a sensible life and doesn't have a darker wilder side to themselves?

Now, I'm sorry, but I do know these kinda goody good dooers and they're quite frankly a little boring to me at times (note that they're boring to me, not necessarily to you or someone else). Of course there are exceptions to it all, but if all they wanna do is watch TV in the evening, it's not really my thing either.

What I'm saying is that when you're at some "extremes" as I can sometimes be in my lifestyle choice, it can get quite difficult to even consider the idea of picking a life off with someone so very different.

I can pull off the "man in suit" look, but inside I'm craving to be more laid back, jump in my baggy pants and go to a BAK XIII concert. So basically, I find myself much more limited when it comes to my choice of what I deem to be a "cool" girl, someone I'd like to hang out with. In fact, having been infused in this type of night life for the past dozen years, it's a little harder to just go down to a disco, pub night or something like that with normal people (or are they normal? I guess everyone is a little abnormal in their own way, but maybe you see what I'm trying to get at). Not impossible, and I've actually had a lot of great evenings lately! But it's just that weird little thing that makes us all different, and maybe I'll be picking up my previous look once again. Who knows.

Just my two cents, nothing more, nothing less...

So... if only many girls out there could see through the wilder side of my life, they may see that I'm also perfectly normal inside, I do sports, like to go to dinners and movies, and so on and so on... in the end, we're all so very different, but also so much alike. Confusing innit?

I'd say.

Go for something with a better reputation.

Drug dealer, perhaps, or child kidney importer.

:D

Well, I've known several and I still do, but even if they say things like "the shy girls are wild in bed" etc, I still have mixed feelings about those things.

Could it be because we're in Switzerland and we all know how the Swiss are like? (I kid, I kid ;) ).

Admittedly, I haven't asked every lady in Switzerland out, my experience is not elaborate enough.

I wont jump.. of a roof, not yet. ;) Thanks for the suggestion.
I cant clean fish ;P
and... i m younger than that three women ( mentioned in the initial post ). but why do you care about my age and ability of cleaning fish? ;)

Back to the topic, all i wanted to say is that... probalby guys care about woman's look and what they do right? we ( or say I) just could not figure out "what they do" part. As for the answer to how "do women look" is quite obvious, ... look GOOD, SEXY, BLOND, and big boooob , blah blah...

Not a criteria for every man, the above is not all true for me for example.

Besides, If you lump every man in the same basket, you may worsen your perception of us men and thus put yourself down when there's plenty of men out there that would very much enjoy your looks, and your character as well.

Wait a minute, we're in Switzerland, after all, we need to form a Committee. *ahem*. To, uh, assess the Situation.

Re: Why is it so hard to find a date in Zurich?! (hope my friends wont kill me)

The ideal place for a first date is the Blinde Kuh. If you can get along on that date without being able to see each other then you have a future.

Relax and try to prove nothing but the fact that you're a nice person who is interested in your date.

The issue that men see with single late 30-something females (and into the 40s) is that they will immediately want commitment and immediately want kids. Add into the mix that the ladies have had to behave "differently" to get ahead and you may see that in the relationship too. Last but not least, very successful professional females probably don't want to compromise, I'd guess?

So......relaxing is the key. Play down everything, your successes, your failures. Don't go on first impressions and hope the other person does the same.

And smile. That's what's really missing from people in Zurich.

So you must have asked your male friends for a reason and how come none of these male friends are not dating you or have introduced you to a friend?

I would say most men would be interested in you if you were into "sport and fitness and uncomplicated"
Most 40+ single men either let themselves go or really look after themselves and keep themselves fit.
The problem is that us 40+ males that are single become pretty independent and actually like our own space (probably like females of 35+). Women have this tendency to tell us we are exactly what you females want but three months later, you are trying to change us and are the ones wanting to control our lives.
