So your looking for stability from someone who is inherently unstable....good luck with that. ;):p:rolleyes:

I think it is not about location, but about lifestyle. Do these 3 lady friends of OP have fun? Tell them to have fun and everything else will fall in the right place. It is ultimately better to wait ten more years and get hooked up with somebody wonderful than panick now and be with a wrong person.

I wouldn't worry about being single. Both statuses have their pros and cons, they should enjoy what they have now without worrying and have fun. Like, one could put a band together, or some other good social activity, theater, book club, volunteering, learning a new thing, groups of people meeting for a purpose - things usually happen on their own without much forced effort. Selfsuficient fun person is magnetic. Focusing on one's career only just makes the people turn into their work ambasadors, nothing else. Boring, innit..

I would've thought that after age 35 or so, the kids would have either already come along or else it's been realised that there won't be any.

Are so many childless people over 35 hoping to start families? I've been thinking that I'm beyond this issue -- perhaps not.

Is this trip crazy or just for freaks:
Starting on Jan 14 th to Hong Kong, arrival on the 15 th, watching there the
concert of green day on the 16 th,departing to sydney on the 17 th, arrival on the 18 th, watching a concert of rise against on the 19 th and return to zurich on the 22nd , arrival there on the 23rd.
Means 2 nights in Hong Kong, 3 nights on the plane and 4 nights in sydney.

never said your life wasn't stable. A stable life takes 1, a stable relationship takes 2.

Call me crazy but have you tried smiling at them first
compared to London people here are really nice and friendly, people on the tram even speak to you (and not just the crazy ones) bus drivers wish you a pleasant day, this is a tip top (as the Swiss would say) friendly place

This should describe my interests that are opposite to an average person who is 41 and already "settled down".

The single ones want kids (the story of my life) and that is completely understandable. The others say they don’t understand why I’m still single but I think they are just being nice :p

I would say most males of 40+ would not realistically want children.
Then they probably are just being nice.

I’ve met men who constantly call to find out what I’m up to, please get a life, or someone who couldn’t accept that I had a life and things to do and wasn’t there at his beck and call so called me unspontaneous, I’m not the kind of woman to sit next to the phone and wait for a man to call so I can jump, please far too much snow to board in J
Maybe I have the opposite problem to most woman and need to stop my life and start looking *tee hee hee* as most people I meet while enjoying life are much younger than me and then the kids question comes up

But you sound as if you don't have a life or at least a male is missing in your life otherwise why do you want to stop your life and start looking?

You see, I have met so many females that don't actually know what they really want but think they do know.

Just some thoughts:
I think a lot of men want children because it is an animal reproduction thing.
It also could be that these males are insecure and by getting a female pregnant with their child makes them be more in control as the female might belive she is now dependent on him.

Thank you!

She matches all three... and several hundred more that I'd never thought of before I met her.

Of course, I'm not sharing this to be smug. Far from it: it is meant to be an illustration of the pointlessness of having fixed criteria when looking for a partner. Moreover, it is also meant to be an illustration of the pointlessness of looking for a partner at all!

She came into my life when I was least expecting it (indeed, earlier the same evening I had expressed my lack of interest in having a proper relationship with anyone, as I was having so much fun), and didn't meet any of the normal criteria I'd expect in a potential partner... and turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me.

Goal-oriented dating?

I'll leave that to the professionals...
You two make my heart glow almost as much as my hubby does.

Before I met my hubby, I'd only dated the "bmoc" types, I wanted someone who was older than I and established in his career. I wanted someone who had a "decent" car, lived in a nice place and had had a chance to be independent and realize some of his own goals.

The man I fell in love with doesn't even know how to drive, lived with his mother until we got a place together, is just starting out in his career after apprenticing for years in a professional kitchen and is a gamer "geek". Oh yeah, and in case it was missed when I mentioned it before, is younger than I am.

All together, he is everything I never knew I always wanted. (In actuality, aside from the kitchen bit, he is A LOT like my brothers, with whom I am closer than I am with my sisters.) Even from afar, he was my best friend first and the rest fell (with a lot of paperwork and airfare spent on both sides of the ocean) into place.

Could be or it could be that we are just socialised into thinking that we need to meet someone, get married and have kids (just watch any chick flick, brainwashing pure brainwashing)
Now donít get me wrong there is nothing wrong with this if itís what you want

I think you are right there.
It was the norm to meet your other half at university, get married at 24, have 2.5 kids, a four door car and a labrador dog.
I remember betting with my dad (50kg of peanuts) that I would not be married by the time I was thirty. I won the bet......LOL

Or it could be that some people just like kids, and want some of their own.
