Seems so. My daughter has only just got to the stage where the main character's parents meet, I think.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

I am currently playing though "the unfinished swan." It is one of those smaller independent arthouse style games like Flower and Limbo.

Its very original and elegant, I like it a lot. You can download from the PSN.

Cool i will check it out. EDIT: just watched a video of it....looks crazy!!

Other cool games on PSN:

From Dust - hours of fun
Journey - epic graphics and online 2 player is awesome
I Am Alive - quite a large game......(very different take on 'post-appocolyptic' games)

I highly recommend them!!!!!!!!!!!

If you like Journey (which is excellent!) then you will most likely enjoy the unfinished swan.

About time you saw the light. I still go with play.com when it's cheaper and I don't really care about when I receive it. But for pre-orders, forget it.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Am planning to pick up AC:III tonight at Softridge in Oerlikon on the way home, it looks pretty nice with a few new features I think I'll like (homestead).

On a non-thread related note, anyone planning to get a Wii U? I think the PS3 is great, but I'm a Nintendo fanboy at heart, so I'll definitely get one.

I am not sure if i am more pissed of that the game has not arrived or the fact that Paddy already has a copy and has not played it that much.

I did get a Wii when it came out, but i got bored after 30 days and sold it to a mates girlfriend (even though i am a huge mario kart fan).

Tbh i have pretty much ignored Nintendo since Street Figher II on the SNES (which was awesome).

EDIT: Just remembered i have a Nintendo Cube with 4 controllers and a copy of mario kart in a carton somewhere in my garage.

How different will it be from the Wii??

cheers

Thoughts on next years ''online elder scrolls''????

I have a feeling that the 1st person view will not be an option.......that sucks.

I wont pre-order this. I will wait for more info before purchasing.

Any idea when the next solo elder scrolls will be out???

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

I've played a little more of ACIII and I have to say, my first impressions are not favourable. There's more scripted sequences and cutscenes than in the previous versions, there are a LOT of graphical glitches and bugs and the AI pathing has a lot to be desired. Combat seems more random button-pushing than before; my trained swordsman assassin (Connor's father) struggles to beat a bunch of bayonet-wielding redcoats with his sword and hidden blade.
I'll persevere though, hopefully it will improve once I hit the frontier...

Sorry to disappoint mate, but I got it on Friday and gave it a solid chunk of time over the weekend - i'm not enjoying it anywhere near as much as Ezio's adventures, I have to say. Feels somehow clunkier and so linear.

Maybe as the game progresses this will improve.

Full verdict tomorrow.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

I was up till 4am beasting through AC3.

At first i was not so keen until i got to the plot twist. All makes sense now.

It takes a long time to get to the point where one feels like you are actually playing an AC game.

Basically from the moment that the old man takes young connor to town, dont go into the general store!!! This is really the first major point you can break away from the story line and go collecting items and checking out view points.

================================================== =====================
Good:
- british accents are quality
- there are some hench 'jump off' places......in the frontier i found a ridiculas one. probably the largest jump of the whole franchise to date.
- tree navigation and rock climbing is pretty cool and quite fluid.
- at first the new combat system seems crap, but once you get the hang of it, you start doing some crazy combos
- running through buildings is quality.......really nailed the camera and functionality
- hunting takes some getting used to (i have still not really nailed it) but its quite fun.

================================================== =====================

Bad:
- the voices for the red indians are a joke. kind of reminds me how ubisoft failed so badly in Revelations when they used italien people to do the turkish accents. complete fail imo.
- cant change colour of clothes....only outfits. shame really as like customisation
- weapon choices seem limited.
- lack of choice, feels impersonal.....maybe i still have withdraw symtoms from skyrim
- menu navigation is simply not organic, annoying button lay out. big fail here.
- Desmond is still a whiney little biatch.......seriously grow a pair!!!

================================================== =====================

I have some admin stuff to do, then i will jump back into it after lunch.

Very much feel like i have not even touched the sides yet with the game, i presume that once you become grown up Connor, the game will take another step up.....we shall see.

EDIT: Also in other news: Ubisoft have fast tracked the AC movie they are making. Not sure yet what characters story they will use (Altair or Ezio) but all we know is that Michael Fassbender is in it. Looks like they will release it next year along side another game.

More to report later

cheers

More than likely German.

Just read the small print on the back and it will tell you what language it is.

Click here for a recent thread about it.

amazon.co.uk or play.com is you best bet

The shop assistants are pretty friendly here, they will always know (or check) if they have the game in other languages - certainly I have found that in every games shop I have been in.

Otherwise, www.wog.ch has the languages well marked out on their site, so you can buy the ENG version, which always seems to be markedly cheaper too!
