Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Finally finished my first play through of Hitman.

Its such a good game, really deep levels (of which there are alot). I will be re-playing this for a long time!!! Such variation each time makes this game very playable.

So, while i give Hitman a few days rest, i started Far Cry 3 yesterday.

First impressions are very good. It has hints of Skyrim mixed with COD weapons. Crazy!!

Full review (my usual pros/cons crap) in a few days.........but so far i am very impressed. Again i feel alot of hours will be wasted spent playing. Huge bloody map!!!

cheers

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Hi SC,

What ratio RPG to FPS would you say FC3 is?

I don't really like pure shooters in the Resistance mould, but love open world FPS like Fallout, Bioshock, Elder Scrolls, etc.

Do you reckon I am going to like FC3?

No so deep into it yet, only had one sitting (my ps3 is firing up as i type this to begin round 2).

So far it seems to be an interesting blend of both types of gameplay.

I will do a full indepth review in the next couple of days, but just from my session yesterday and also the games you listed, i would highly recommend you make a purchase!
Also for a new game from Ubisoft, the price is also reasonable (£39.99 at amazon).......

But before you order it..........order HITMAN ABSOLUTION!!!!!!!

cheers

I got owned. Good games. Not many shots in our matches, our defenses shut everything down. Wasn't fun by the end.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

i have a prob. i signed up with amazons lovefilm (no, its no adult channel ;-)
and when i want to watch a movie via my playstations browser...it says that the flasplayer is missing. i have checked the ps3 forum and they say with the latest update of firmware i should have it. but its not working! i did sytemupdate-check and it says all good, latest version ps3 software installed. to get flash player via adobe made my ps3 freeze to a brick. any ideas how to solve this prob?

A moment of silence please for the passing of a legend:

RIP buddy

In other news the lame-box x-box 720 will be revealed at E3 this year. Im guessing that it will be on sale for xmas 2013. I will not be buying one (i will never join the dark side).

I love sonys response to the news regarding 4th gen consoles:

''We are never the first and never the cheapest, but always the best''

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

I have Red Dead for Xbox that I'd lend to you...although that probably doesn't help much.

I have a bunch more that I'm willing to lend, too, if there are any fellow 'dark-siders' (to quote SwissCheddar) who want to exchange. Speaking of that, anyone have Dishonored for Xbox?

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Quick question for other PS owners out there. When I first got my PS, I created a fake UK account so that I didnt have everything in German (as was the case when I tried setting it up for Switzerland.)
I am wondering how i would go about loading credit for the PS store. Gamespot told me the recharge cards only work if it is a Swiss PSN account, and when I tried doing it via credit card I got an error.

I have the same problem, PSN wont recognise my CC details. Someone suggested creating another account with your Swiss details. You lose all your in-game progress for that though I think.

I was up till 4am beasting through AC3.

At first i was not so keen until i got to the plot twist. All makes sense now.

It takes a long time to get to the point where one feels like you are actually playing an AC game.

Basically from the moment that the old man takes young connor to town, dont go into the general store!!! This is really the first major point you can break away from the story line and go collecting items and checking out view points.

================================================== =====================
Good:
- british accents are quality
- there are some hench 'jump off' places......in the frontier i found a ridiculas one. probably the largest jump of the whole franchise to date.
- tree navigation and rock climbing is pretty cool and quite fluid.
- at first the new combat system seems crap, but once you get the hang of it, you start doing some crazy combos
- running through buildings is quality.......really nailed the camera and functionality
- hunting takes some getting used to (i have still not really nailed it) but its quite fun.

================================================== =====================

Bad:
- the voices for the red indians are a joke. kind of reminds me how ubisoft failed so badly in Revelations when they used italien people to do the turkish accents. complete fail imo.
- cant change colour of clothes....only outfits. shame really as like customisation
- weapon choices seem limited.
- lack of choice, feels impersonal.....maybe i still have withdraw symtoms from skyrim
- menu navigation is simply not organic, annoying button lay out. big fail here.
- Desmond is still a whiney little biatch.......seriously grow a pair!!!

================================================== =====================

I have some admin stuff to do, then i will jump back into it after lunch.

Very much feel like i have not even touched the sides yet with the game, i presume that once you become grown up Connor, the game will take another step up.....we shall see.

EDIT: Also in other news: Ubisoft have fast tracked the AC movie they are making. Not sure yet what characters story they will use (Altair or Ezio) but all we know is that Michael Fassbender is in it. Looks like they will release it next year along side another game.

More to report later

cheers
SC
what i dislike is the massive amount cinematographic breaks! every 2 mins another sequence! and the combat system is shite and its soooo overgraphic. to much symbols, graphics signs, blinking and swirling geometric objects and lines...it really sucks. and i cant see the mission goal or name when i take a break and where is the map???

the very detailed graphics from the game itself are just great!

im just doing the little indian mission..,
