Did anyone get the Swiss 360 version yet? If so, are all the menus and the like available in English? My copy should be waiting for me at work tomorrow.

My GT is Salmonid for anyone who wants to do some multiplayer.
I ended up with the Swiss PS3 version, and yes all the menus etc are in English!

Erm dunno how much truth there is to this but interesting.

Never understood why developers don;t add in a time bomb to stop people playing the game before official release day?

PS3 owner gets week ban for playing GTA IV before official launch

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

did you go online yesterday?

I played it offline for about 5 hours, its the nuts!

The shooting/target is so nice, they way you can shoot someone in the leg and they try to hobble away and you can just walk up and finish them.

Also I had a crash and flew through the window, nice touch.

There are so many small and beautiful changes in the game. Im looking forward to some more hours tonight!

I spent about 3hrs mucking about with it finished 15 odd percent. I get in the mindset I just need to hammer the thing till it's complete then generally you then have the skills to batter people on line.

Tommorrow is a day off so hopefully I'll be able to get another 40% done, probably finished by Friday.

Looks promising, the car control is very interesting definately different between rear wheel and front wheel drive. I've decided the hum vee type is completely useless apart from destroying the environment and mowing down pedestrians with.

Wonder how fast I will have to go before getting launched on to the street? (Put the seat belt on next time haha!)

Age old kill the target 9/10 times with a motor can be done, with zero damage to yourself.

The cover option is annoying, I'm the run in blow the place up and walk out sort. I leave duck and cover to COD4

Oh and the first thing to do with GTA is how long can you last with 6 stars? That's if you can trigger it. I managed 4 yesterday

Argh! I'm now desperate to find time to finish COD4 before buying GTA. I suspect I won't pick it up again once I get GTA....

You guys say the Swiss version is in English, but has anybody checked which online servers it connects to? ie, are you going to find yourself in German games online?

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Hi guys,

I got the PS3 yesterday with the new GTA (plays very nice btw, cool new car handling), now I can't wait to get back home....

I was actually wondering how much you paid outside of Switzerland for the PS3 and if you all got the 40, 60 or even 80GB version? I got my 40gb for CF 560.-, excl. games...

Hope to see you all around (once I finally got I-net at home...)

Uhmm, play better? Getting away from the cops is something you'll have to do a lot, but they shouldn't be killing you so quick though, make sure you have full health before starting the mission.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

You know i said on this thread that once i am back from my travels that i would be making a purchase.

Well what a suprize i have changed my mind again!!!

While in the uk i had a 7 day ps3 session where i managed to complete Assasins Creed (rubbish ending) and unlock all 3 islands on GTA 4 (graphics great, especially how they do the sunlight, but lack that 'drive round aimlessly and kill people factor'' which was the best part of the the previous games, yes they are going on the more down the realistic path, but for playability i got bored.) Also i tried GT5, which i enjoyed but really the prolouge was a gloryfied demo and really expected much more (but i did love the inside the car view!!)

All in all i think i can live without one, and also i am 2 and a bit years away from 30........maybe im just getting old!

yep, just practice. its a very cool game... how in the hell they manage to fit all that content.... the whole city, cut scenes, and about 20 radio stations, onto one disc (on my xbox 360 at least) is way beyond me!

cool cool game. keep going flow, it just gets better.

its massive! what they showed on MTV got me hooked n bought the game on sunday before footy. the only thing i dislike so far ist, that wenn you use the left stick for stearing and you dont keep your foot on the gas pedal, the angle changes and so im struggling a bit to find the best angle for me to drive. and after i have found it, it needs adjustuing again. and that for me, a race game dummie.

hey, ever nicked a hummer? this car on full speed demolishes trucks! other cars get squeezed like a tank rolling over and its all so incredibly simulation-like animated. or just check on of those lowriders...funkeeee s.h.i.t.!!!

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

GTA IV is awesome. I've got an addiction problem now

I played also the GTA III on the PS2 but I got bored quite soon. I think this one is much better. It's bigger, deeper, lots of freedom. I'm starting to think that this is the best videogame I've ever played.

The question of flow23: I don't know which mission you refer to, anyway it doesn't matter. Generally cops are not so dangerous, unless you go further in the game in some missions where you meet lots of cops, heavily armed with shotguns and M16s, humvees and helicopters: when they have the chopper it's quite hard to shake them off the tail.

When you're followed, act quickly, don't stop to think, just run away, if your veichle is stuck, leave it and run fast! You'll find another one. Don't waste your time shooting at the cops, if you kill cops, more will come, your suspect level will raise and it will make your life more difficult. Even when you have all the weapons (including grenades and rocket launcher), fighting them is a waste of time. Once I shot down a chopper to try to make my escape easier, and then immediately a new one appeared

One small trick: later when you can do on line dating, try to date "Lawchick", she can be useful when in troubel with coppers

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Yeah, was playing pretty much all day yesterday too .

I've been playing them right from the very first iteration as a 2d game, and pretty much loved everyone of them, I was a bit peeved at first when they made the switch to 3d! There's always so much to do.

Camera angles have always been a bit of an issue but this one is much better, and so many more little touches that just make the game brilliant.
