Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Ok, it's a rumour, but a pretty cool one.

PS2 game downloads coming to PS store

and even better

The info supposedly originates from a Sony Europe insider, who informed the poster that the roll-out will actually occur in Europe before the rest of the world. (Which is contrary to Sony's usual M.O.)
Here's hoping it's true.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Being a rainy weekend, I decided to have a crack at getting videos streaming from the Mac to the PS3. Despite all the comments here, I'd convinced myself it couldn't be that easy, I was all prepared to find all required video converters and devote the morning to the task. Lo and behold, all bar one of my downloaded video files worked, without any hassle, I am truly impressed. Shan't be downloading the DVDR's any more.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Just got a PS3 from the states and brought it over. It says on it that it only operates at 120V and I used a step down converter. However I think the monster PS3 drew too much power and fried it, hope my PS3 is fine. Does anyone know if I need to use a step down converter? Where can I get one that can feed enough power to the PS3 in the GVA area?

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

just wanted to say how great the medialink is. I read about it on here yesterday, went home, downloaded it and within no time there was all my music, videos and photos streaming through the PS3 (not all at once of course, that would have been messy). So thanks for the recommendation, made my night that did bargain for $20.

I have a US PS3 which is plugged straight into 240Volts here. Just changed the power cord. I did this after reading in several places that the PSU is multi-voltage capable. You do however do this at your own risk (as I did), by just using a local style power cable that is compatible with the cable for the PS3.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

im on the second act of metal gear solid 4.

for me my initial impressions still stand, that the control is a bit clunky compared to what i am used to with the likes of COD4.

however i must say that the cut scene graphics are just outstanding to say the very least. if only they hired the guy responsible for cinematography and art in MGS to make some hollywood films. sublime, sublime, sublime. Such imagination and style. Wow.

Yeah, I eventually completed this a couple of weeks ago, those scenes tend to drag on a bit I found. I'm sure I spent more time watching them than playing the game!

Think I'm still going to play through it a couple more times though, I still got plenty of tricks to learn, different ways of appraoching each level. Did a lot of running and gunning first time round.

I don't think it's fair to compare the controls to COD4 as it's not that easy to sneak about in COD.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

yep, im not trying to be fair, i guess i am simply saying that i now prefer the kind of control that COD4 gives. all too often in MGS when i was in a tight spot, my character wouldnt do what i wanted it too.... snake would lie on the floor when i wanted him to stand up for example.

the scenes drag but they are incredibly well implemented. im also running and gunning more than i should, i must say, as i have snuck through a couple of snakes previous outings.

Yes it says 120Volts.

Do a Google Search on the subject. i.e. US PS3 in Europe etc....

Don't just take my word for it.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

that has to depend on what kind of games you like.

watch out for the newest bundles, maybe they have the dualshock controller (vibrates) which is pretty new.

There should be an 80GB version out now, or soon, I think launch date was supposed to be August 27th in Europe.

I think they've dropped PS2 backwards compatibility, which shouldn't be a problem for you. But they also seem to have dropped the flash card reader, which I used once.

I got the new six-axis with vibration, and I like it, heavier than the orignal, and the rumble feature is cool.
