I have Rez HD on my xbox 360, it was ported to the download store on xbox live, and the graphics uprated to hd.

I had never played it before, i picked it up about 6 months ago. I have to say that it is a beautiful game... well made and excellent how the music seems to sync with what is going on.

If you ask me, LittleBigPlanet is going to be the killer game for the ps3 when it arrives in October. Do your research now!

I have Rez for the Dreamcast and I tracked down the PS2 version on eBay which I play on the PS3. Plays great on my flatscreen with the PS3 scaling it up, but the disc makes quite a racket when it's spinning away in the drive.

Did they make the 360 version widescreen? That's the only thing that's missing from the game.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

yup, they made it widescreen.

in fact they include both the upscaled and the original 4:3 versions. The 16:9 version in 720p (or 1080 i cannot remember) looks simply stunning. I sometimes show it off to visitors to my place.

it ****es me off they only released HD for xbox, still, at least I have snob value in owning the original.

It's best played in the dark (despite manufacturers warning), with the volume up full, and, ahem, under the influence.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Downloaded Blood Siren Curse from PSN, which eats up my disk space.

The audio language is a combo of japanese and english, but the subtitles and hints are in french. All my other PSN stuff has been in English, despite being downloaded from the french store.

Still pretty good though, despite the nightmare it was to install. My french is just about good enough to cope, but it's annoying.

I got one!
with GTA4
Its amazing, the functionality of it, everything,
well worth the money
PS3 + GTA4 is a very bad idea, they will annihilate your social life. But don't worry, once you've finished the game and played a little bit on-line you'll slowly crawl out of your home and see again the daylight

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

There is so much to do in the game though!
Its like watching a long film, but you control it.
I was a fan of other GTA games, but this one is just a level above all.
I have not tried the multiplayer, is it any good?

only unfortunatle if you really want to play ps2 games... which, frankly, i find hard to understand, given the plethora of gaming options designed to harness the power and graphics of the ps3.
krlock3.
A good game is not necessarily one with mind blowing graphics. Some games I love have pretty plain gfx but brilliant game play and damnit.. I just want one device plugged into my tv instead of 2.. I already have way too many cables to trip over! dangnabit!

The multiplayer is quite good. There is the usual "fragging", car racing, missions similar to those you encounter in the solo game and so on. My advice is to play solo for a while before trying the multiplayer, to be ready to face the strongest and most experienced players.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

By the way, the PS3 hard disk is a normal drive that can be easily replaced. No need to waste money on a 160GB PS3, better to buy the cheapest PS3 available and change the drive later.

Just tried medialink and it's working, cheers. That's probably going to get bought.

No problem with the eye-connect removal.

I also checked their website for my problem, they're aware of it, but don't yet no the cause.
Does the MediaLink ONLY work with files on a MAC?

Wanted to play stuff either of an external Harddrive or from my NAS.

Guess the other route would be to have a Media Server running on the network.

Or I do have a Mac Mini which I could attach a external drive to and/or map the directory on the NAS.

Checked out my Popcorn hour (finally) last night. I was quite impressed. Seems to work well with most Video formats. Next would be to do a side by side comparison with the TViX box. Also looking forward to the Popcourn Hour 110 coming here. I think the user interface could be better than the TViX?

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

You need a uPnP server for the PS3.

Windows Media Player 11 can work as a server, there's a free Google one and Twonkyvision make a well regarded server (you need to pay for it). Logitech's opensource Squeeze Center server seems to offer uPnp too but I've only used it to serve my Squeezebox so I can't say if it's much good for uPnP. I'm sure there are others but these are the ones I have experience of.

I don't know what sort of NAS you have but chances are that you can run some sort of uPnP server on it. I have a QNAP TS-109 and it comes with Twonkyvision preinstalled, which has worked fantastically well with the PS3 and my chipped Xbox. It serves music, video and photos.

Having something like a PS3 makes a NAS really useful and I'd recommend going that route to anyone who has a large amount of digital media. It's so much nicer having a machine that's available 24x7 as opposed to having to boot up a PC and maybe attach a USB drive or whatever.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Hi Gav,

I have a Netgear NV+

This runs slimserver (came with the box and the main reason for choosing this NAS).

I did search on the Playstation for 'mediaservers' under both Audio and video sections, but it found nothing. I did upgrade the firmware on the NAS recently and have not checked Slimserver since doing that so on my to-do list. But I think this will ony work for audio stuff.

I'll see what other 'add-ons' I can do on the NAS, maybe there is a solution there. Not a big priority for me as I have other solutions (TViX & Popcorn) for Video and not really interested in using the PS3 for audio (use slimserver devices). But if I can get it working on the PS3, I can give the popcorn to my brother....

Cheers
