Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Well there you go then.

Regards my wipeout problem, that seems to be because the playstation network was down last night. works again now.

i am a bit of a graphics whore so i have to admit thats one reason i like fifa. i have played various demos of PES but couldnt get along with them so well.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Played the new Tiger Woods game while in the UK recently and i have to say i was not that impressed.

Not a huge graphics difference from TW08 and tbh there could of been alot more courses.

Still if you like the TW series its worth a buy.........but dont expect much more than 08.

Bingo, Bango, Bongo anyone??

==================

Also i completed the Star Wars Unleashed game.........twice actually.

Was enjoyable, about half way through you start doing some ridiculas moves, but the nostalga of star wars wears off after a while once you relalize its no Devil May Cry.......

Again worth a buy, but really the graphics are nothing to write home about.

Basicly a PS2 game with good movement......

I wish they just updated Star Wars Battlefront I & II with all the jedi moves. IMO those games where alot better than this one. It felt more real fighting armies across vast lands or against 200 enemies on goldeneye esque levels.

Actually thinking about it more as i post this, Battlefront I & II makes this game look really bad.

Perhaps they did a 'transformers' and rushed the game to meet with the latest film release??

So to sum up, i have changed my mind, dont buy it........George has enough money anyway......

Wow a few days to repress and distribute tens of thousands of copies. That's impressive.....or a good old publicity stunt. I tried to get a 'recalled' copy but I guess they don't exist. :-)

As the saying goes: "Don't believe everything you read dear".

Ever since the dark old days of FIFA vs PES, there have been people saying FIFA was better...it had actual player names, it must be.

Over the last couple of seasons, FIFA has actually become more like PES if anything, but control wise it is still a clunking behemoth that allows about as much freedom as a guantanamo detainee has.

hmmmm.... gamespot gives PES 7.5/10 and FIFA 8.5/10... sure, they might be wrong.

here is their opening statement about PES....

UK REVIEW--Although Pro Evolution Soccer fans bought last year's game in droves, it was unfortunately an all-time low for the series on the PlayStation 3. Poor graphics, dreadful presentation, and basic online play failed to make the most of the hardware, and it was a step back in gameplay terms. Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 doesn't completely redress the balance, but it's a step in the right direction, with new game modes, an improved editor, and even a Champions League licence. Additionally, this is a more enjoyable game to play thanks to its slower pace, more responsive control system, and simple passing mechanic. Unfortunately these are only small fixes, and though there's a solid game at the core, it's one that still fails to keep up with the times.

and here is their opening gambit about FIFA...

UK REVIEW--It has been a busy 12 months for EA Sports and football games. FIFA 08 was a genuine revolution for the series, with a more realistic pace and improved AI adding some much-needed depth to the gameplay. UEFA Euro 2008 came six months later, further refining this groundwork while expanding the features list with more unique game modes. With FIFA 09--the third EA Sports football game in a bit more than a year--the developers have honed the core gameplay even further and added even more features, game modes, and online elements to the mix. It amounts to an incredibly deep and varied package, and despite a few niggling bugs and performance issues, FIFA 09 is the pinnacle of the series so far.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

I grabbed Fifa 09 on the weekend when i was back in the UK.

As usual it is very slick. I also think that the flow of gameplay seems much improved from last years version. Still difficult to score though!!

I second the meds request.

I was unimpressed with PES 2009 until I got into it.

The old adage still rings true:

"Gamers like FIFA, people who like/appreciate football like PES".

Haha, true, it doesn't work too well i must confess though, my PES player with face mapping is an ugly so and so.

Have to say that the 'Become a Legend' mode is class though, wouldn't have thought it was too much fun playing as just one player, but it really helps you to get into the habit of finding space and positioning yourself correctly for multiplayer games, as well as the satisfaction of sticking in the winning goal against United

Truth.

FIFA = Superficially impressive
PES = whatever the opposite of superficially is impressive! Profoundly impressive, deeply impressive...something like that.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Its good fun playing the "become a legend"

I had fifa last year and the "become a pro" was not anywhere near as good.

PES can be a bit frustrating if you sit on the bench sometimes but is very addictive.

Also spurs still have berbatov on pes so all is good!

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

That goes against the unwritten rules.

"You can only field players that are available to you."

I personally prefer to add to the rule that you can only play fit players, but people get stressed about that one.

First thing you need to do is a transfer to United. Bye Bye Berba!!

I know this more of an xbox question but there is really no need for a whole seperate thread.........anyways it is sort of related:

Can you buy some sort of attachment enabling you to play on the xbox with a ps3 or even a ps2 controller?
