Alos, I like to download some US series once in a while...to to stream it to PS3 via XP laptop do I need anything special? Medialink is for Mac...is all I need Wondows Media Player??
Call me old fashioned, but I just put my shows on a USB key and stick it into the PS3, it's really just as quick and there are less problems. I don't like to clutter my computer with unnecessary programs. But if you do want to stream, I believe WMP is able to stream some but not all filetypes. The best program for it appears to be Tversity, try it out.

I do the same thing, and with a 320gb drive in my PS3 I don't have to worry about running out space anytime soon. I streamed for a while with my 360, but I'd rather keep the shows on my PS3 than clutter up my computer.

2k? I don't think it's an absolute must to have 7.1. I bought a 5.1 and spent about a grand on it, though cheaper decent system are available. If you're a real audiophile, you can spend as much as you like

Well you are loosing quite a bit of the advantages relating to HD sound. You are mentioning spending a grand BUT I bet you're not getting HD DTS sound and your HDMI simply gives you the picture if you are lucky at 1080p.
The sound experience of PS3 and BD is from what I heard at demos amazing and is a world above your standard set-up.
So my point is: you get the best in terms of video but get cheap on the sound which I think is a key in gaming or HD movei experience.

The HDMI goes directly to the TV at full 1080p, and I use the optical output to the reciever, sounds great to me.

fyi: The optical out will NOT give you the HD sound formats. This is because is does not have the bandwidth.

Yeah, saw that, still happy with the sound though, might upgrade my receiver, though I'm not sure I'm enough of an audiophile to tell the difference and make it worth it.

Nah, I'll wait for the price to drop.

In fact, right after I got LittleBigPlanet, I started a moratorium on my game purchases. I currently have these games to finish: LBP, GTA4, Metal Gear Solid 4, Assassin's Creed, Skate. And I'm nowhere close to finishing any of them. So from now on my policy is that I have no right to buy a game until I've thoroughly played through at least one of them. Good way to get unnecessary spending into check.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

like some others, i have a backlog of things to play though i completed the main part of little big planet this morning....

i had a second whirl with some of the user created levels and they are coming along nicely... showing some good imagination. thats cool.

also updated my xbox to have a go on the new dashboard. its cool and slick and i like it (avatars aside as i am no longer a teenager!) but what would be even better would be if they released an update to the hardware instead, making it sound less like a jumbo jet.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Not sure if someone has suggested this before or not, but what about swapping games via the forum? Not sure the best way to do it, maybe start a new thread with whatever games you have and don't play any more and what games you'd like...could also act as a for sale thread if people want to make offers? Should cut down on the expenditure and also mean you get pretty much cost value back on any games you've bought.

The new install feature goes a long, long way in reducing drive noise, it doesn't spin at all in fact. Now I just a need a bigger HD.

Hi all, slightly off-topic but does anyone know where I can get a Swiss power plug for my PS3 ? I bought it over from the UK and just find it slightly annoying having to use a UK/Swiss adapter each time.

Thanks, CM

You can pick them up from interdiscount, the sell the equivalent power lead with a swiss plug on the end.

its a standard plug as far as i know, same as you might find on a kettle. interdiscount is indeed a good bet.

Star wars force unleashed
Lego Star wars
Assasins creed
Tiger Woods 08
Metal Gear solid 4
F1 championship racing

Either cut the English plug off and put a Swiss one on. All Hobby shops sell plugs, (Jumbo, Migros, Coop). Or it's a standard cable think just a normal PC one (have to check). I probably have a few spares kicking around.
