Re: [General discussion of] PS3

I'm sure there is one, but does anyone know a decent website that would have a list and possibly reviews/previews of the Q1 2009 games for PS3? I am guessing gamespot probably does, but isn't work friendly

Hi,

Anyone has a PlayTV and got it to work with Cablecom? What do I need except the PlayTV itself? Do I have to get the digital box from them in order for it to work?

Hi,
I thought the play tv was only for dvb-t which means it wouldn't work with cablecom which uses dvb-c. Anyway it's a moot point as legally you need to use a cablecom box to watch digital tv due to there encyption (there are ways around that but these are illegal as far as I'm aware).

With play tv and a dvb-t aerial you'll get about 4 Swiss channels and nothing else.

Cheers,
Crocked

Wow, that's a great price. Now I actually feel bad about the price I sold it to brett for last year.

Anyone up for some online play on PSN? I've got LittleBigPlanet, Motorstorm:PR, GTA4, and Killzone 2 at the end of this month. I just set up a solid internet connection at my new place. Maybe we should have a PSN IDs/Xbox Live Tags thread, hmm...

I'll eventually get around to the COD series, but I have way too many games to finish beforehand, probably won't be until 2010, hopefully they'll be budget priced by then. Mirror's Edge, Prince of Persia, and Bioshock are still in their packaging. Killzone 2 arriving soon. I just beat Assassin's Creed (and wish I didn't, what a horrible game). My current goal is to finish GTA4 and Motorstorm with at least 30% Trophies for each.

My PSN ID is Russkovich, if ever.

Know the feeling, never got round to finishing Assasins creed, just got too dull.

Just got Farcry 2 and Mirrors Edge, and also have Killzone 2 and Resident Evil 5 on order, they're going to keep me busy a while.

I second that completely.... keep all the others wrapped up in their packaging if you want, but go get and OPEN Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

As well as modern warfare, it is also a modern masterpiece.

exactly finishing assasins creed is a crime - i got to a bit where 4 blokes attack me, couldnt do it, so switch off and havent looked at it since.
trouble is once you play cod4 , you compare every other game to it - resistance 2 , rainbow vegas etc - and none of them can touch it!

Finishing Assassin's Creed, the feeling you get is not one of accomplishment, but one of realization that a part of your life you will never get back was taken away.

I wasn't that impressed with the RE5 demo. The gameplay hasn't evolved that much since RE4 and I get the feeling it needs to be played co-op to be really enjoyed. My best friend is probably going to get it anyway and will ask me to play with him, so there's one purchase less.

COD4, I dunno. I think that the moment for me to get that game in its prime came and went, and I'll have Killzone 2 and Bioshock to occupy that niche for a while. I'll get it in a year or so to see what all the fuss was about.

Has anyone else pre-ordered Killzone 2? The demo is sick. And it's going for 30 pounds/39 euros on play.com. It's going to be a system seller, à la Gears of War for the 360.

Didn't try the demo yet, but I played RE4 through about 10 times, fantastic game, so even if it's more of the same in a different environment, I don't really care.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

im definitely going to pick up killzone 2. after all, i feel like the original E3 announcement was before i was born.... ive been following it for that long.

Im sure it will be good.

But COD4 is the benchmark for me. Game of the decade so far. More atmosphere that most if not all action films i have seen in this decade too.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

It's a first-person shooter with a pretty spectacular first play campaign and a great online mode from what I've heard. And it's probably the most visually stunning game I've ever played.

The controls aren't like most FPSs and are slightly slower, have more weight, and are a bit more realistic, so that might be an acquired taste. So, I wouldn't suggest blind-buying it until you try the demo.

Just bought Bioshock myself...by all accounts it seems like one of the best games ever made! Strange, i'd never really heard of it til someone at work told me about it. Only 49chf from Media Markt too, bonkers!

Will report back on how i find it, but it is meant to be a dystopian survival horror with similarities to fallout 3, which i also loved (would recommend to anyone, have a copy i can lend you).

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

No, but i have another question about the ps3 store.

I have just found myself fondly recalling Rez HD which is available on the Xbox Live Arcade store... for me, it is the best downloadable game, hands down, by far, on either system.... in fact, anyone with a xbox 360 and a love of electronic music should CHECK... IT... OUT....

Recently I downloaded flow on the PSN and i liked it but it hasnt grabbed my attention beyond the first few levels... and this week i downloaded FLOWER which is actually a pretty cool experience... it sounds surreal and it is... you guide some petals over a grassy field basically... but it uses the ps3 motion controllers sublimely... best use for that i have seen.

So that leads me to your question..... anyone have some other recommendations for downloadable content on the playstation store?
