Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Wipeout HD and Noby Noby Boy are the first ones that come to mind, based on word of mouth alone.

Check out this list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._Network_games

Some of the newest ones and the ones with Trophies should definitely have something that appeals to you.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

i downloaded the demo of killzone 2 and it seems good... in the demo you can choose language. i would assume that this applies to the full game too... anyone bought it here?

So did anyone get Killzone 2? My copy is supposed to arrive today. I'm even getting a Bluetooth headset for this thing. Who's up for some killin'?

Yes, I got my copy this morning and it's in all those languages. The localization effort for this game was nuts. It's even in Russian, voices too. Wow.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Killzone 2 is excellent. The multiplayer is the best I've played since TeamFortress for the original Half-Life. They have the same class and objective system but streamlined to perfection.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Can't say, haven't played the COD series, but a recent patch for Killzone 2 made the game slightly less combersome, apparently, and more like COD. Controlling it became a bit easier and it no longer takes a million shots to kill someone.

So I can't say how it compares, but I can say that the level design and the entire online aspect of KZ2 is top-notch. And I've barely even touched the single-player campaign, which I heard is good, but not a step up from other FPSs, so don't go expecting that.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

For me, COD2 and COD4 are my favourite FPS's, though I lay no claim to actually being good at FPS's. COD4 combines an amazingly well put together single player experience... totally unforgettable... with sublime multiplayer...

you owe it to yourself to pick it up.

Yes, i noticed from the demo of killzone that its quite hard to kill the baddies. It seems to me that all the baddies are quite generic in the game though? Not much variety there?

You've already tried to sell me on COD4 a few pages back. Like I said, I think the moment for me to get that game came and went. My backlog is way too big now and my time is limited. Which really sucks.

Not really. From what I've seen from videos, there are hooded snipers and some interesting looking boss battles later in the game. But it's so fun I couldn't care less.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Russkov indirectly raises an interesting point....

Due to the massive changes in currency rates, with chf - gbp at 1.63 as we speak, i can order killzone 2 on amazon.co.uk for gbp 35.41 including delivery charges.

At current rates, thats chf 58.

Ok, so no big difference.... well done digitec in this case.

But most new games for ps3 are retailing for around chf 109.... or GBP 67.00.

I was thinking recently, that im not about to spend that amount on a game, and would buy all my purchases on amazon with my swiss credit card.

It's working out great for me on Amazon.co.uk. I used to get an additional tax charged by swiss customs, even then it was still slightly cheaper than buying games here, but with the new exchange rate, the games have dropped below the threshold of the tax, making them even cheaper still.

Plus, you're guaranteed the game will come with english language.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

I spent about GBP 30 - 34 for my last few purchases on my duty-free stopover in Heathrow... Amazon does seem to do a good job!

Also, for those interested, Command & Conquer, Red Alert 3 is supposed to come for the PS3 after all.... there was a promise of a demo in the shop yesterday, but have not found it so far...

I didn't like the Killzone 2 demo all that much, but it's very tempting at 59 Sfr, though it's annoying that digitec doesn't allow payment with an einzahlungsschein.

Decisions, decisions.

The give their bank info and you just complete the pay-in slip at a Multimat or by Ebanking yourself. Isn't that pretty much the same thing? Or do you want to do it at a post office?

And the Mirror's Edge demo was nuts. I got the game a few months ago, but it's still in shrink wrap (along with Prince of Persia) because I have too many other games to finish.

I'm just spoiled by WOG.ch. Order it in the afternoon and its in your mailbox the next day with a payment slip. Of course, in this case, they're much more expensive.
