Ah.. the dream! Sorry to burst the bubble though, but you can't play games or watch dvds through that interface! Not yet anyway.

So I wanted to see if anyone else has bought a PS3, what you think? what games do you have etc?
who's playing online?

We do have a PS3 and the games that we have are:
Gran Turismo HD
MotorStorm
Need for Speed Carbon
Sonic the Hedgehog
Virtua Tennis 3

and several others that you can download from their website.

As I am terrible with "jump and run" games, only my other half is brave enough to go online.

But he has a problem with his profile (has reported it to Sony, but no reply as of yet) with setting up a profile (living in Switzerland, but language in English - surely there are other people having the same problem).

Also we use our PS3 obviously as DVD player and media centre.

So far we are happy, but we are looking forward that all PS2 and PS games will be "compatible" with PS3, so that we can play them all.

I also have the problem with the website, only French, German or Italian available. I just thought I'd have to live with it . It's improving my french, though should have set it to german given where I live.

Who did your other half send the complaint to? I'll fire them one off as well!

I know the pesky sony people have blocked "secured" media....

I registered mine in the uk, don't have the a/c problem. You could try using a UK/Eire address. I know people have used Japanese addresses as the store is better. However I think once it's set it's locked!

Cool, the PS3 marches on, looks like you'll be able to use it as a high def digital tuner next year! With DVR.

Unfortunately, the tuner only supports DVB-T and won't be available in Switzerland before mid 2008 (at least).

But if it only supports DVB-T, there's not much use for it anyway, as there are only 2-3 (Swiss) channels broadcast in each region :-)

There had to be a drawback didn't there!

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

I did the geek thing and got a Buffalo Linkstation-Pro, installed a twonkyvision mediaserver on it and now have all my MP3s and films streaming to the PS3 through my wireless router. It works fine, but it's not very user friendly. The missus appreciates the reduction in wires strewn around the apartment though. Unfortunately the PS3 only allows some formats of media, so it means having to convert all .avi films to MP4 and all .wma files to MP3. Still, once it's up and running, you can hide everything in a cupboard.

We'll, I'm going be waiting for the latest PES, got hooked on it on the PSP and never went back to fifa.

Apart from PES, sports games aren't really my thing, though I heard Fight Night is the game you need for boxing.

My UK DVDs play fine, not tried any other regions, I only look these things up when I hit a problem, so no advice there.

I'd also like to know if any shops rent games, like blockbuster used to do in the UK.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

well on the games front there are not so many out. There are no other football games out yet.

Boxing, there is only one but needs to be only one, "fight night 3"

I would recommend as the best game for the ps3 "Oblivion"

I also enjoy "tony halk project 8 skateboarding" & "Darkness"

NFL is supposed to be really good but only if your into and understand the rules properly.

I would consider swapping games, would also be interested if someone finds a place to rent games.

As far as im aware there are no codes on the ps3.

thats about it

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Bump more news..(Careful with swiss bought PS3 titles)

Purchased Fifa 2008 the other week from Media Markt in Basel, enjoy the manual in either deutsch, francais or italian. (If you don't read any of these have fun!)

If you want a replacement book ea will charge you 3 quid to send a new one from the UK. Which is a bit of a cheek, should be free to print off on-line really.

(You'll need it for the Ronaldinho moves!)

well, if you don't know any of these, have fun in Switzerland...
Seriously - they cover 3 of the 4 official languages in the country - and people still complain.

And I suppose you know specific terms like "step over" in deutsch. Ordering the shopping, etc is easy. Specific footballing terms require more effort.
