Ugh, *whyhaventtheythoughofitwhenIwas16*

I mean I was more looking forward to the game, but this really tests my fanboy-genes..... should I.....

Not sure what kind of quality you can expect though... the special edition would be only USD 150.....

Definitely a great marketing tool!

Well, exactly, that is one of the things triggering the gene...

You should have seen my Star Wars collection before I gave it away... it's always those extras that would lead to me spending too much money...

Hehe, it was not such an easy decision, either I'd get a life and get laid or I'd finally go to a convention as a mini-stormtrooper..

Wish I'd kept some of the good books and the comics though...

So you see, these extras are the COD equivalent of buying myself a lightsaber... hard to resist.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

ps3 slim somewhat of disappointment. can now bitstream dts-hd and dolby hd directly, but it is only 30% slimmer, looks cheaper in build quality, and has no IR.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

I picked up Condemned 2 off Amazon for £6.98 the other day - not sure if it is any cop as it hasn't arrived yet, but can't really quibble at that price - you can almost certainly trade it in in the shop at Sihl City for more i'd guess!

Also got Valkyria Chronicles for under £25. Only about 3 hours into it, but it is good fun, if a bit cutesy.

Anyone else found any low-cost bargains? Bioshock is another, is less than 50chfs now and is an AWESOME game.

yes actually.

i just picked up bioshock for gbp 15 (thats chf 27 to you and yours) on amazon.co.uk. now thats a bargain, plus i also got resistance 2 for like gbp 19. ive been playing through that and mightily impressed.

another older game i can heartily recommend is uncharted: drakes fortune, also a budget title now for gbp 15. thats a bit like tomb raider / indiana jones... its very cool and cinematic.

All three of these games come with my personal seal of approval. Great thing is, i finished uncharted and then realised that there is a sequel arriving in october, so i dont have that long to wait now.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

although i actually dont buy all that many games, im currently excited about the next few months.

first up is IL2: Sturmovik, which makes a decent stab at actually giving us something of a WWII flight simulator on ps3. the demo is out on psn and if that sort of thing floats your boat then definitely check it out.... released 4th sep (tomorrow) and already "winging" its way to me from amazon hehe.

next is Need for Speed Shift, coming 18th september, looks like the need for speed series took a step towards GT territory. visuals and car physics look incredibly mouth watering.

After that, we have the aforementioned Drakes Fortune II coming mid october.

And of course, Modern Warfare II in November. Thats like worth taking the month off for.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

For those in Geneva who want to give give friends/loved ones a PS3 around Christmas, the Media Markt at Meyrin is selling the PS3 slim for 369 CHF until the 30th. Supplies are probably limited, but I saw the ad in the paper and my jaw literally dropped.

I had that game for ages, and for some reason, didn't like it at first, and it sat around unused for ages.

Second time I tried, I couldn't stop playing, even after you complete it, it's fun to go back over and try to get more trophies.

Haven't been playing much recently, but winter's coming, time to look out for some new games.

Bioshock has been pushed back to 2010. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is coming out at the end of the month, however. I wasn't impressed by the first one, but I tried the demo out on the Japanese store and it is excellent. And you're still one of the few people who prefers PES after FIFA decided to get their sh*t together a few years ago? I've tried the demos for both PES10 and Fifa 10, and the former keeps stagnating while the latter keeps getting better and better. I'm good with Fifa 09 for the moment, though.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

If I can post two 'budget' recommendations. Go on the online store to get Crash Commando and Savage Moon.

Crash Commando is a little like Worms for those who remember that, but constantly running rather than turn based. The online multiplayer is superb fun.

Savage Moon is a command-and-conquer type, where you have limited resources to build defences for your mining operation before waves of aliens come and attack. A most decent distraction for the price.

Now if I can only finish World At War so I can go buy Batman....

To my mind, PES is the spirit of football, FIFA is the corporate malaise which plagues our beautiful game. PES hasn't been quite as brilliant as it used to be, and FIFA has been catching up, but PES 2010 looks like a return to its football simulation roots, which will hopefully recapture some of the old magic.
