Re: [General discussion of] PS3

This looks interesting, streaming indie films via MUBI, and it's available in Switzerland for once. Never heard of MUBI before this, are they any good?

Sounds like a good idea in theory.......i love obsure films.

The only problem i see would be how slow the PS Store downloads things.

I picked 10 demos to download, and left my PS3 on when i went to bed, 12 hours later its still downloading.

Also i find the PS store very laggy.

cheers

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Finally my downloads finished........alot of crap games later, i stumbled across 'Battlefield 1943'.

The demo is only 30 mins, but the full game can be bought for about CHF20. (only a 6mb unlock key, so that was quick).

Really liked this game, very different from MW2 and took a while to get used to.

I highly recommend you at least try the demo........if anyone has this game or gets it then let me know.

cheers

p.s. The graphics of the sea bed is really amazing........never seen anything look so good.

Interesting. I went to Les Auteurs some time ago. It`s indeed nice, they have stuff that you don`t find at rentals and sometimes not even on download (torrent).
I was trying to buy a movie from them a week ago, wanted to go the legal way. Then I found out I could not choose a subtitle different than german.

Then I started the torrent...

I just hope that through PS3 it will be more efficient and have different subtitle choices.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

PITA. I gave my faulty ps3 back to the shop where i purchased and they sent to sony, telling me it should only be ten days. now more than a month ago. how time flies.

no blu rays, no ps3 games. im resorting to my 360 to watch films and as i always bemoan, that is one loud Mofo.

Heres hoping my slim comes back next week. have placed an order on amazon for assasins creed 2 and fallout 3, both games i have somehow missed.... gonna be a few nights of game fest when my slim saunters back home.

I have had to wait on average 3 weeks for stuff from play.com

To be fair I am not sure it is entirely their fault, probably sitting in a customs office for a while - when i ordered from them in the UK it only took a couple of days.

In munich average time was around 2 weeks.

Well spotted - I'd say the same goes for fallout 3, get the 'game of the year' edition, including all downloadable content... and have fun with the games!

Btw, anybody know about that? My friend is playing oblivion, first on his old X-box. There he can't play the latest savegames anymore, same on the PS3 since this week. Apparently the savegames are too big to play!?! I really have no clue how that's come to happen, but just wanted to ask if anybody else had an issue like that?

I do remember reading on the oblivion forums that there was a bug with save game size (also other bugs if you put too many items into the same room/cell)

I thought the save game one was fixed in a patch but not sure.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Hello,

I want to buy red dead redemption for the ps3 at play.com, which sells currently for EUR 51. I Usually buy cheaper games of about EUR 23 at play.com, and with this amount I don't have to pay any import fees. Does anybody know here if the customs will fee me if I buy something at play.com for EUR 51?

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Who's bought Time Crisis 4 for the PS3?
I don't think the gun works with any other PS3 games.

Can't find info on the web. Has anyone here checked whether it works with the old PS1 PS2 Time Crisis / Point Blank classics?

Hi there,

At EUR 51.- customs should charge you VAT and handling... I'd wait a month or so, until the price is below EUR 40.- (51 sounds high anyway..!)

Enjoy

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Ok finally got my ps3 back today, after more than a month wait. gamestop in zug were very nice about the whole thing, and tried to get it back as quickly as possible, but sony dragged their feet.

the gamestop guy was raving about red dead redemption, i almost picked it up there and then before pouring a bucket of cold water on my head and remember that gbp 35 from amazon.co.uk does not equal chf 100 in switzerland.... so before i place my order for RDR, anyone played it yet?

im actually not a massive fan of GTA but the guy said that it plays more like uncharted (of which i am a big fan)?

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Quick review of stuff played recently/playing now

GTA IV - Episodes of Liberty City (just finished)
Quite good and as addictive as GTA IV. Same city, same environment, two new stories to play. No big changes, a few more weapons and vehicles. The NOOSE tank is awesome

Red Dead Redemption (playing now)
Same engine and game concept of GTA IV but it takes place in the wild west. Very addictive, possibly it's a better game than GTA IV (I need to finish it before giving a verdict...). More freedom than in GTA, the world is huge compared to GTA. The nature is really beautiful and well modelled. The weather and the difference between day and night play an important role. The "dead eye" targeting system is spectacular. The game is even reasonably priced (89 chf at mediamarkt).

I was going to buy this last weekend but could not find time to go to softrigde, who seem to have the "confirmed" English version.
I have read a lot about it, and am really excited about it.
Maybe this evening...
