They tend to send out the pre-orders so that they arrive on the actually release date.

Jusr got a PS3 at Interdiscount, 320 GIG for 349.00 which is a pretty good deal.

Also got fifa 10 for 33 CHFs, uncharted 2 for 29 and Bioshock 2 for 33.00.

Goodbye swiss boredom.
MediaMarkt is competing. 369.00 Plus uncharted 2 and another game.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

I also need to buy a new PS3 now...

Got my shiny new Fallout from play.com, put it in and after 20 minutes the system died and now won't read any discs any more.

Annoying...

Phone Sony and they might send you a refurb for a lot less. I did that back in the UK and they sent me a refurb for £100

Fallout keeps freezing my console, forcing me to hard reset it, it's very annoying. Still keep playing it though, hooked.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

My PS3 was bought on launch day - so it has served me well for 3.5 years - time to get a slim one anyway i suppose, will look nicer on the shelf!

Anyone ever used the backup function - i intend to copy everything over to an external HDD and then reload it all on to the new one - easy enough?

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Last time I ordered a game from Amazon I paid the same postage and it was sent by DHL tracked on the 9th and delivery was estimated for the 12th.

This is sent on the 8th and delivery estimate for the 25th. Not impressed

Yeah, I did it when I installed a new hard drive a while ago. Pretty simple, there are plenty of tutorials on the net. Be happy that it's just a disc error and not the Yellow Light of Death, or you'd have no hope of recovering your save files unless you pay crazy money for Sony to fix it.

I saw MediaMarkt had the 320GB slim for 299 CHF. Dunno if it's country-wide, though. Worth a look.

Yeah, the one in Geneva. Not sure how it is in the German part. I'd give them a call to check before.

I bought mine on the launch week and mine failed earlier this year.
I sent mine back to Sony an told them it was the PS2 / PS compatible one and got one returned once I'd paid the repair fee. So it took the best part of a week but saved me a few chufs. Also got quality time with the missus for a week.
Getting the game returned that was stuck in the machine took a few phone calls. Mine was the yellow light of death so I lost all my tokens/history.

Warranty for a replacement is only 6 months though. Don't know if you can shop around for a German sourced machine that may have a warranty more than 12 months before you head to MediaMarkt. e.g. some Digitec TVs are sourced from Germany so you get longer warranties.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

ok, for reperation i went to sihlcity gamestop (2nd hand game shop) n asked what to do. they said, they can send it in. estimated costs: minimum 230 chuffs. right. skipped. went to media markt, bought 160gb one for 369chuffs. 320gb models only with a) mgs4 or b) fifa11. price varies from 444 to 469chuffs.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

i have bought a new 160GB PS3 yesterday. i have connected everything (inet), logged me in with my account, transferred the trophys etc., all good.

then i wanted to transfer the data, plugged a 4Gb USB stick but i have 10GB data. changed for exterrnal harddrive, all god. it was shown as a drive, data transfer started and took 30mins to be done. when it was finnished i plugged harddisk with new ps3. i could see the data of my harddisk, scroll through it and i found the PS3 folder. i browsed through several files....all empty. it says "no image shown" or something. i have read then on web forums it could be that my harddisk is not fat32 formatted.

a) how do i know? b) why is it that the transfer was shown to be happening? c) why can i see the backup but cant make it go on my new ps3?

what i did then was to connect the 2two systems via an ethernet cable. it always says the two stations are not connected, no ethernet connection.

a) do i need to have a special ethernet cable? b) how else can i transfer my data?

thx!
