Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Okay guys, i am now 10% through the game (one sitting)

If like me you are a fan of NFS 1..........DONT BUY NFS 2!!!!!!!

All i expected (and wanted) for NFS 2, was NFS 1 with slightly better graphics, more car mod options and perhaps some new courses.

But no, EA decided to make (it seems) a new racing game from scratch.

Overall the game feels alot smaller than NFS 1

And yes i can confirm, just keeping the car in a straight line is almost impossible. Also any tiny amount of contact with other cars results in spinning out.......very annoying.

The car control does get easier with practice, and also with the better cars one buys.........but for someone like me who is an experianced driving gamer, it simply is not good enough.

I still cant understand why they changed the game so much, NFS 1 really is the only game to challange the holy grail of driving games 'Grand Turismo'.

The menu is slicker and general navigation around the game looks smart (even though they over complicated some areas)

There are 2 different views from inside the car..........i am sure some people love this, but i only use the 'number-plate camera'......which is set at a slightly differently from NFS 1.

In NFS 1, you had to get stars for 3 things during races (such as 'lap time' or 'racing line') and its the same in NFS 2, except that you get XP, which is fine...........but while your actually racing these goals are not displayed. F U C K I N G stupid!!

Basically overall the developers did not use common sense with this title, and instead of making NFS 2 they made a complely new game.

Its a shame.

''IF ITS NOT BROKEN DONT FIX IT'' clearly is not a phrase the developers have heard.

Summary: If you want to have NFS 2, dont bother as its nothing like NFS 1...............imo NFS 1 is still the best driving game out on PS3.

cheers
SC

p.s. NFS Hot Pursuit - I tried the demo before and realized it was crap and did not buy

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Another stupid thing is the fact that in the list of trophies NFS 1 and NFS 2 are not listed next to each other as the titles of the game. I know i am being pedantic, but it is evident zero thought went into this game from every angle.

A perfect example of thought going into making games is from Ubisoft with the AC series. If you play the 3 games in order, you really feel they actually spent time sitting around a table discussing what needed to stay the same and what areas needed improving.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Just to let you know that i choose the hardest settings as well as the pro driving set-up.........(as i am a pretty good gamer), but i had to drop these settings down to medium just to be able to win races from the off.

I feel gutted overall as i pre-ordered this game months ago for EURO 49.99 thinking it would be NFS 1 on crack, alas it was just shit.

Incase you guys dont get my position on this (lol):

DONT BUY NFS 2 .......... IT IS F U C K I N G S H I T

BUT I DO HIGHLY RECOMMEND NFS 1 ........... BEST DRIVING GAME EVER.

cheers

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

I now have an internet connection with GT5.

The game is updated - and now a few comments:
* You get a lot more experience at the higher levels per race
* It took ages to get the Zonda R in B-Spec in order to get the Toyota 88
* B-spec is a huge pain in the arse - giving him a high spec Veyron will mean he crashes a lot no matter how cool you get him to drive
* The seasonal races are incredibly easy - for lots of cash and lot of experience - the current Lamboghini one was so simple.
* It still lacks the pick up and play of GT4 - but the depth is beginning to improve.

I now need to find the time to complete the Dream Car challenge.

Every Thursday morning the seasonal races are updated. The best are the "bonus races", where you win easily lots of money and experience points. Unfortunately they don't put bonus races on line since a long time.

I finished Homefront, it's a very short game and nothing really special to it.

I've also done back to back dead space.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Currently day 6 of the PSN being down.

Luckily the weather has been good, so i dont think its been such an issue for us yet.

Information still sparse from Sony........''we are working on it and it will be up as soon as possible''..............is about all they have said.

cheers

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

A week-long downtime with almost no explanation is kind of disastrous for Sony. I'd like to find out one day what actually happened.

But yeah, thankfully the weather's good and everyone's on vacation. I had totally forgotten about it until I tried to go online to own some suckas at FIFA yesterday evening and couldn't.

PS3 is somewhat putting the blame on Anonymous, but they say it wasn't them.

It seems Sony is just handling this in the worst possible way.

Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Out of boredom i put in MW2 last night to have a mess about on the special ops section.

My PS3 informed me that the game is due a 27mb update. I thought i was a bit weird. Clearly these game updates have nothing to do with the PSN.

I am sure some of you more tech minded games where aware of this??
