Re: [General discussion of] PS3

Well well.

Got stuck into LA Noir(e!) this weekend, and have to say that it is truly excellent.

The missions (so far, have done maybe 8 or so mainstream missions) are nicely varied, and have a realistic feel, helped by the excellent dialogue and facial expressions.

The side missions are fun too, much quicker and again really feel like things that could happen on the spot - robberies, hostage taking, etc.

The overall storyline is engrossing, and I can't wait to uncover more of my character's past during the war, and how the main storyline pans out.

I cannot urge you enough to get hold of a copy. Top notch.

I will be impressed if that was PS3 game play in the trailer----although the developers are still making strides to get good quality out of that hardware.

That being said, I just started playing Arkham Asylum on the PC after playing it on console last year---not even close to comparison!

FPS are meant for PCs (), but if they focused the developement for the console (which the MW series has been extremely successful), it might be worth it to stick wtih PS3

8-11-11

Biggest world wide sick day.

In regards to FPS on console vs PC...
I used to play counterstrike on PC, and I agree PC controls are way easier, but with console you dont have to keep upgrading etc etc... The multiplayer game flow is much better I think on consoles, and ofcourse less hacking!
And overall, all you have to do is lay back on sofa press one button and within 3 minutes you are fragging n00bs

But in regards to controls, i think it takes time to get used to it, but you will eventually!

Very true--I got used to playing Golden Eye on the N64--but anytime I pick up a ps3 or xbox controller for a FPS I am absolutely useless.

Multiplayer is also much easier on console---but I'm not really good at the games-so at least against the PC I 'think' i'm good.

As for upgrading---we live in Switzerland, a new 700 CHF videocard every 8 months is no biggie

Sure its a preferance.. But hey you can get a Keyboard and mouse for you PS3, if you really want to go down that route! I did it once with my friends PS2 on half life, I could not aim at all, imagine that noob running around in circles with gun pinted up or down shooting at the ground

But to get used to the controller I think its easier if you first play, and arcade game, like Assasins creed or Prince of persia. You really get a feel for layout, without being frustrated by everythng killing you. After that its good to go. Presto!

If PS3 has a decent mouse and keyboard--that might be an option (apart from losing out in graphics and 3D gaming).

I use a controller (RumblePad 2) exclusively for sports games and fighting games (street fighter etc.) as well as emulated console games, but stuck to the keyboard for Assasins Creed--too many actions for the controller for my comfort.

Depends how you are getting on with MW2..........personally i would stick with PS3.

Trailer does look quality.......and i love the fact that western europe has been brought into play.

I cannot wait to see a 'gameplay' trailer though.

Any idea if 'infinate spawning' will be still used??

cheers

Poorly at the mo, trying to get used to the controls, but will persevere. Think I'll stick to the PS3 for MW3 and get BF3 for the PC.
