The iPad recognises that there are photos and offers to import them to your iPad into specific albums ("Imported" + "Last Import", or similar, if I remember correctly). It will offer to skip previously imported photographs.
There is no other dialogue.

What do those of you who have an iPad actually use it for? I got one for Christmas & although I think it is a pretty cool piece of kit it still stikes me as a solution looking for a problem. My kids love it for playing games & I have a couple of apps for myself but apart from that it is not used much. I am sure I could be puting it to much better use than Harry Potter Lego.

Turns it into a highly configurable controller for a number of music apps.
Otherwise I would see it as a really handy laptop for web browsing. As I already have a laptop, I haven't cracked, yet...

I read The Times and The Sunday Times (£2 for the whole week, complete steal), and magazines mostly through the Zinio app. If you use PayPal to pay, it doesn't seem to care where you live and you can get UK and US ones without having to have a credit card registered in the right country.
I also use it as a mini TV because we only have one - this way, I can pack the kids off to go and watch BBC iPlayer cartoons when they're being noisy and I want the living room back.
And Internet browsing from the comfort of the sofa, without a laptop fan banging away.
And sure, games too - me and my 11 yr old are playing one called Color Cross at the moment, which will appeal to Sudoku likers.
But for us, it's mostly a replacement for paper, giving us access to the English stuff we can't get here.

Things I use mine for most;
Quick surf when it's not worth booting up the Quattro laptop
Reading magazines on Zinio
Quickly viewing photos when I'm out and about photographing stuff
Keeping Mini Mimi quiet in the car with Charlie and Lola videos
Facebook ("Friendly" is much better than FB's iPhone app)
Playing nicer versions of iPhone games
Occasionally reading my Kindle books when I don't have my Kindle with me

Do you have the connector thing for your camera? If so does it work well? That is one thing I am quite keen on using it for. | Quote: | | | | | Quickly viewing photos when I'm out and about photographing stuff | | | | | |

My boss uses it (here @ work) as an "always on" mobile computer ersatz to
email back & forth
read e-papers (FT.com, NY Times, etc)
read brokerage research (pdf files)
I'll stress the theme *mobility* ... i.e. the iPad accompanies him to the toilet for his morning musings
Ciao

New iPad on the 25th of March. It's pretty much near to perfection. Dual core processor and thinner than an iPhone 4.
I'm not an apple fan at all but this is THE table to buy this year.

all the upcoming Android tablets have the same innards, some have much nicer screens, most weigh about the same or are lighter. I really fail to see why I should choose the iPad over a Motorola Xoom or a Samsung Tab 10.1.

The screen is a huge let down but otherwise I would pre-order one of these straight away.
That's a lot considering I'm not an Apple fanboi and have 0 Apple devices now.

The fact that they also had so few features to talk about that they had to show their shitty apps for so long afterwards. |

You know, even with a new incarnation of the pad I still think it's a solution looking for a problem. Having said that, I'm probably not the first person you should look for when it comes to commentary on new technology.
Way back in the early nineties my boss asked "should we get this Internet thingy". I answered "Well email could be useful, but as for the rest of it, forget it. It's just CB radio for the nineties. Full of self important people spouting nonesense on their own pathetic agenda".
Sometimes I cringe about how wrong I was, but most of the time I smile secretly to myself thinking I wasn't really that far off

Anyone want to buy a bridge?

Apparently, they sold 15 million iPad 1s.
It would be ideal for my mother, though.

Now all the hipster fanboys will go around saying it's an innovative first of its kind dual core tablet
