Just found this fantastic bit of software that turns almost any PC into an iPad/iPod/iPhone charging station i.e it boosts the USB electrical output of most motherboards. Works great on my Dell desktop and an Acer Netbook.
I would consider this a good idea, if I wanted to fry the MB of my PC/laptop, to get a new one faster.
Unless the driver-chipsets are really designed for the type of voltage/power output, that is what I suspect is going to happen...

Its been out there for over a year and I haven't found any reports of problems. It either works with your particular motherboard, or it doesn't and that seems to be the extent of user complaints.

Who knows... I'd put a sticky on the mail-box, saying that you are home, please ring, just in case good luck!

Assuming that it's an iPhone 4 (microsim) then you should be able to use the sim in both (as long as there is no network block in the iPad working against you).

Yes, an iphone 4 microsim. I put in the new ipad to see how works with orange before buying one for itself but not connecting...

Re: The Apple iPad

Strange, I though a certain financially minded Mod might be singing a few praises of a thoughtful Birthday present in this thread lately...

I handled one last night, it's hard to believe that a few subtle changes could have such a noticeable change on the look and feel.

One word comes to mind.

Slim.

No, two words.

Slim, polished.

Maybe three,

Slim, polished, desirable.

Re: The Apple iPad

Question: Lebara and Coop Mobile are now offering Microsims and surfing options, so far I can see that Lebara looks the cheapest for the occasional out and about iPad surfing BUT you can only activate the surf option by SMS - how do I get around this?

thiagogita has no particular reputation at present
@bigblue
Coop is orange
Migros is Swisscom
Lebara and MTV are Sunrise
Redbull iamnot sure but iam guessing Sunrise

by experience, if you chose a pre paid data plan DONT go with Orange.
crap signal and you pay 5chf/day even if you only check an email.. Beter option is swisscom, 20chf for 300mb/monat. Since on ipad i just use twitter and facebook + mail, 300mbis morethan nough.

Can an Ipad fully replace a laptop?

What do you think? Also, what do you think are the pros and cons of an Ipad?
