Re: The X-Box 360 thread

If anyone still has friends that haven't taken the plunge to buy a 360, mail them a link to this deal:

http://www.digitec.ch/?artikel=176063

Ridiculous price.

Re: The X-Box 360 thread

My Xbox packed it in yesterday...

Well, technically it died a few weeks ago, but after attempting to fix the GPU heat sink issue, I think it's definitely dead now. Considering it was made in 2006 (and bought for next to nothing), and has seen quite a lot of action since then, I'm not too upset. The only problem is that it was an Asian system, so some of my games where PAL, some were NTSC, and some were NTSC-J. I've checked on Play Asia for compatibility, and I think about 70% of them will work with a PAL system, but I won't know for sure until I try them out.

So, I'm thinking of getting that Elite package from Digitec.
Would anyone recommend Pure?
Lego Batman?
Halo:ODST? (I wasn't overly impressed with Halo 3)

Re: The X-Box 360 thread

Pure is better than it has any right to be. Really fun.
Lego Batman sounds crappy, but it got decent review scores from places like IGN, so who knows.

At that price, all the bundled games are basically free anyway, so you can sell the ones you don't want at Cash Converters.

Sad day. But on the bright side, since the one you had was quite old, you now can get a new one.
I hope all your games are compatible and you dont run into issues with them.

Okay, I would definitely recommend ODST. It is not really Halo-esque gameplay. Yes, the characters are similar, but it is a completely different game. Gameplay elements and storyline are interesting. And firefight, with upto four players...thats fun.

Plus you the beta key for Halo:Reach, and the entire Halo3 Multiplayer.
All in all, a good buy, IMHO.

Let me know when you are on live. Maybe we can meet for firefight/multiplayer. My gamertag is ashishshah.

Oh, and Pure is okay...and Lego:Batman...didnt like it so much.

I wouldn't bother with Halo:ODST. It is terrible. It was originally made to be the Halo reach but they changed their minds or something and just released it as a separate game. It has that cheap and nasty feel about it. You play a few characters but for example, you go through a smallish map with one guy then you end up going through the same map with another. It gets abit stale.
Although there is a 4 player firefight, It aint that good after a few goes and I'm sure everyone is now messing about with the Halo Reach Beta. Thats the only reason to buy it though so you can play the Beta.
Haven't played the other two but the Lego games are very popular/.

The Halo games, in general, feel very generic. Nothing really outstanding about them apart from the graphics.

But to be honest, the Elite package alone is worth 300CHF. Throw in Forza 3, and I'm not really pushed about therest of the games. They're just freebies now.

Higgy, I saw you thanked my digitec deal post. Does this mean you're pulling the trigger on a 360? With Forza 3 in the package, how can you not.

Mos def! Who do I have to sleep with to get it at that stoopid price? I thought with this terrible weather the price might in fact go up!
I paid 225chf just to get my PS3 fixed!

Not sure why no one else has thanked you for that tip to be honest.

Played Forza at my mate's place on the bank holiday. Not bad just a tad more polished that Need For Speed Shift that we played on the same TV on his PS3. Graphics were similar.
So what are the plus points of the Xbox over the PS3? More games?
Didn't like that the controllers were battery powered and that you have to pay monthly for online. I'm starting a new job soon so may not be wise buying another console. Convince me. :-)

Re: The X-Box 360 thread

I got the 360 for the exclusives and for the ports that are just way better (like Bayonetta, it plays so much better it honestly feels like a different game). I've also noticed that it's better for co-op shooters, like Gears of War. Major PS3 exclusives, while awesome, tend to be linear single-player experiences. There are also many PC shooters, like Left 4 Dead and Metro 2033, that are only out on the 360 because PC developers are more comfortable with developing for it.

I won't convince you to pay for online because I don't. The rare times I play online I do on the PS3. You can't beat free. And batteries for the controller aren't as big a deal as I thought they would be. Now that I think about it, mine haven't run out yet since I got the system.

Re: The X-Box 360 thread

You can get the play and charge kit for your controller real cheap.

I will convine you to pay for gold on the 360 as I and countless others do. The amount of enjoyment of playing online outweighs the charge for using it.
I always play online!!
See you online

Re: The X-Box 360 thread

I was very pleasantly...no no...awesomely...surprised by the missus yesterday.

We were at home, just sitting around...
...and out of the blue she pulled out "Read Dead Redemption" from her bag.

I was like . I think the words that came out of my mouth were...

"When did you ? When did you ? When did you ? Gimme Gimme Gimme..."

Needless to say, I played late into the night and had a lot of trouble staying awake at work.

But from the bit I played, the game looks and plays awesome.
Looking forward to the weekend.

You shouldn't fuss about either batteries for the controller or even buying a play-and-charge kit.

Solution - buy 4 rechargeable AAs and a recharger for CHF20 or so = Controller is always wireless, batteries always charged.

Re: The X-Box 360 thread

Anyone else been getting tons of messages on XBox Live trying to sell some kind of points crap? Seems to be mainly english kids on MW2, and most of the time, I can't understand WTF they are saying, but it is getting really annoying.

Probabily they found you by your friendlist. I saw some websites offering free MS points if you send some msg to 100 people over Xbox live.
I got also this kind of spam over PSN. In PSn i cant block those people.

Ridiculous price.
PS3 owner here who likes driving games (don't need a car in Zurich), with the great Digitec price offer, are Xbox driving games better that PS3 ones?
I am fed up of waiting for GT5, so I heard ages ago that Gotham Racing was superb and Forza was really good but when I played it, it looked only as good as NFS Shift. Any other great racing tiitles on the Xbox?
