Electrocution On Games Show

Interesting French TV Program to see how extreme people would go on a reality TV program but was actually a documentary.
Clever idea.

I've heard of the Milgrams before, but it's always amazing to watch this kind of stuff.

What would you have done?

I find the % of people who continued to the end quite shocking (no pun intended).

What would you have done?

Why US Army personnel specifically?

It's not like folks in the US Army are the only ones to ever give in to that sort of pack mentality... all you have to do is look at THIS forum some days to know what sort of hyenas people can become. (Sure, sure, it's only words here but the way some folks gang up on others for the approval of friends or to compete against others for some imaginary approval somehow / somewhere - in essence it is fairly much the same.)

Re: What would you have done?

yes I saw the show yesterday on TV, was quite chocking. especially as many of the contestants did not even hesitate or show any emotions when the actor behind the screen was screaming in pain and begging them to stop.

What is also interesting - in the original 1960s experiment, 65% of the people were prepared to give the maximum shock. But in this case, 80% were. Are people getting more curel and/or obedient?

Re: What would you have done?

I am sure violent TV and video games would get the blame for the increase.

Re: What would you have done?

I'm familiar with the experiement from the 1960s, so I would have recognized it and refused relatively quickly. But I have no self-righteous presumptions about what I might have done under other circumstances, like in a time of war.

Quite right. Nothing like kicking a man when he's down.

Here, here. You only have to see certain names at the ends of threads to know it's happening.
