Your essential travel items

I really love to travel. What is the most important thing you always bring while on your trip??

These are some of the places I've gone through:

Re: Trip to Spain

Gaffer Tape
Torch / Flashlight with headstrap
Plastic bag
Book
Basic first aid kit

If you can't fit it all in a plastic bag, you're carrying too much

This one is more interesting, but they charge an outrageous 16.5EUR to get in. And you don't even get your first drink free...

Re: Your essential travel items

In no particular order.

1) Johnson's baby shampoo (works as a wonderful hair/body cleanser)
2) Good leave-in conditioner (lotion for your body and conditions the hair)
3) very comfortable flip-flops
4) ipod
5) zip-loc plastic baggies
6) antibiotic ointment
7) comfy clothes
8) sarong
9) tiny LED light

I guess for some people it is. People are wonderfully different, don't you think?

Re: Your essential travel items

Forget the iPod. You lose the 'colour' of the environment shut away in your atomised, white-cabled sphere. Plus you'll need an adaptor for the plug... waaa no. (Then again, I remember being in a yacht race and the skipper chucking his walkman - olden days, my dear - overboard to save on weight. I had to hide mine in a cereal box...)

Can't stand travelling, get agitated easily in confined spaces. PSP, books and iPod are completely necessary for me.

Arriving is another matter...

First Aid Kit
Sunglasses
Sun Lotion

Re: Your essential travel items

No, I will not forget the ipod. I hate (repeat hate) waiting in long lines. My ipod makes me a happier gentler person when I happen to be waiting in line for 2 hours. If I happen to be on a bus in central america where the "main roads" are pot-hole ridden tiny narrow dirt roads, I can't read cause I'll get sick but I can listen to music. I love music and find it intolerable to live without.

I enjoy travleing by myself as I meet more people that way but have found my ipod to be invaluable.

And, I have this wonderful adaptor that is an all-in-one that plugs into any type of plug and anything plug can be plugged into it.

Re: Your essential travel items

I don't do queues. I would rather either take my custom elsewhere, or find another way. I definitely don't queue at restaurants.

Re: Your essential travel items

When flying to S America for world trip and speaking to the nurse about the dangers of rabies, malaria, blah blah blah, her highly sensible advice was "always wear condoms".

Apart from that some decent books and credit card and off you go.

Don't forget the Leatherman or Swiss Army knife. You never know how many uses you'll find for it until you have one on you all the time.
