I have "two dollars and half [a] dozen bowls of grogg" any English wives for sale looking for a home in the new colony?

Today's NZZ contains a half page article with maps and pictures on how Zurich council will be charging for access to the gardens on the lake from tomorrow...

Re: Anyone spotted April fools jokes yet?

Just pulled this one, on another forum. Preparations began last night with a bit of unpopular action by one mod. Then another mod had a go at him, and he banned her. I logged in in the morning, and had a go at him, and the admin banned both of us.

We also banned another couple of members, who we'd co-opted.

Opinion is divided. Some think it was very good, others think it brought the forum into disrepute. Personally, I think it was a great laugh, and complety reprehensible.

If you're geeky enough, XKCD has a faux unix terminal interface.
There are several commands that work. Also try to go west, get eaten by a gru, and cd to the forum for more easter eggs.

The little Mermaid in Copenhagen is currently in China for the World Exhibition (this is true). But a newspaper wrote today, that she was replaced by a "Hydronymphus Pesci" skeleton on her usual spot.

Picture here :

Doc.
I just saw on another news page, it was NOT an April fools joke. They had in fact put a skeleton there, although it was a 1st of April Pranke

Saw this on Today Telegraph site, could be one, sounds preposterous and I've not heard of the Union mentioned...
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolog...-teachers.html

And this from the Grauniad (check the name of the correspondent, Olaf Priol )

I saw a side-splitter with the prices of meat in a Swiss supermarket. Trouble is it is every supermarket and every shopping day of the year.

Re: Anyone spotted April fools jokes yet?

I got totally screwed a few years ago in my youth, my local football team declared that they had signed Cameroonian international Loof Lirpa on a bosman.

I actually remember going to school gloating about this until I got home and realized.

Google has a great one. If you do a search and look to the right where it would usually tell you how long the search took, it has been replaced with some strange units. For example:

1.21 gigawatts (Back to the future, the amount of power it takes to travel through time)

11.9 parsecs (Star Wars, the Millennium Falcon completed the Kessel run in just under 12 parsecs)

It's great!!! Made my geeky day!
Ah, happy nostalgia for days when we measured in Furlongs per Fortnight...
(IIRC, the equivalent SI unit is the TenMillimetresPerMinute)

Anyone else remember the F-cube (FurlongFirkinFortnight) system of measurement?
.

Re: Anyone spotted April fools jokes yet?

Try doing a google search for 'helvetica'

http://www.google.com/search?q=helvetica

Not really a crazy prank, but neat and kinda topical.

Anyone spotted April fools jokes yet?

IIRC, it's also the anniversary of that hilarious time when "some" Americans got "lost" and "accidentally" bombed Schauffhausen.

Don't mention the factory there making parts for German ME109s. I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it
