Appalling professions

Since each time I look at the Appealing professions thread I think it says 'appalling', I thought I would add to the confusion and provoke thought on that subject.

Is there a profession that would cause you to run and hide from someone? Though my dream as a child was to be a garbage man (Tinker Toys and Lincoln Logs cans made great props with the makeshift sofa garbage truck), I wonder who marries these guys? Taxidermists? Undertakers? What about these guys Crime Scene Cleaners?

They're people too, and often quite educated* and social.

*I knew a garbageman who kept a copy of Money magazine in his back pocket and knew more about stock trading than anyone else I've met.

True! I was once a janitor, and got to meet many. Always wanted to ask if I could ride on the back of the truck but never had the courage.

Re: Appalling professions

As a starry-eyed 14 year old I dated an undertaker's son - really cool He rode a motorbike, was always dressed in black and had a long white silk scarf round his neck. My mum always broke out laughing when she saw him, but I was smitten

Tanners; in the Middle Ages, human excrement and urine was mixed together to make an excellent leather curing agent (I corrected that from tanning agent ). Apparently the best stuff came from Newcastle.

Any profession where phrases like:"I'm just the messenger," "I'm just doing my job," or "I didn't write the rules" are used on a regular bases.
