Re: How/where did you propose/get proposed to?

This has absolutely nothing to do with Switzerland, but I give this guy credit for his creativity and thought I'd share it. If you want a smile, have a look at how he proposed:

Any other good proposal stories out there?

Re: How/where did you propose/get proposed to?

My husband proposed to me in Paris, in spring, in the lovely garden of the Musée Rodin.

in front of 'La Porte de l'Enfer''

Oh, and I was already three months pregnant.

We've been happily married for three years now.

Re: How/where did you propose/get proposed to?

I just found this thread....it just so happens that it was started on the day of my proposal

For my 30th birthday I was being whisked off to a secret location. I didn't find out until we were in the departure lounge that it was Rome. My parents met and fell in love in Rome 35 years ago, but I had never been so was very excited. The day of my birthday I got a few gifts, and we wandered round sightseeing. At about 5pm it started raining, and we'd heard that the Pantheon was beautiful in the rain so we headed there. While sitting and looking at the ceiling inside, my other half produces a little blue box tied with a white ribbon and gets down on one knee . After I cried for a while and finally said yes, he suggested we go out to the square and get a glass of bubbly - we walked outside and who was sat at the bar with a glass of bubbly but my parents, ready to celebrate with us! The next day we went sightseeing with them (they had lived there so showed us where they met etc..) and that afternoon, who should show up but my best friend (now my maid of honour) and her boyfriend - also ready to celebrate with us. My other half had organised all this without me knowing....it was amazing!

Now, THATS what I call a proposal.

So creative, economical yet so much sincerity! Beats those cliche post fancy-dinners, at the foot of Eiffel Tower proposals any day.

No no, I am not bitter

That's why I liked it so much -- it was about personal effort and thought rather than money and grand gestures.

I went down on one knee in the middle of St. Marc's Square in Venice, early on a Sunday morning before there were many people around.
As we strolled across I asked if she thought this was the exact centre of the square but she said "oh, no that's over here" and lead me 20 metres away. When I popped the question she looked so surprised then burst into tears. I think that meant "yes".
Just come back from Venice - good job you did not propose this week or you would have needed a wet suit or very romantic angling wellies, lol.

Re: How/where did you propose/get proposed to?

My hubby proposed 10 days after we met. I was on the floor of my room in University halls with a slipped disc. He was talking to me trying to keep my mind off the pain. He said that he'd spoken to his friend back home and had told this friend all about me. The friend had told him that he should marry me. To which hubby then added to me 'Well, would you marry me?'. I said yes immediately (I was heavily drugged at the time) but told him that he would need to ask me again when I could walk and wasn't on medication. He did this time with a red rose and on bended knee.

We've been together almost 20 years.

Re: How/where did you propose/get proposed to?

10 days beats my record! My husband and i got married after knowing each other 6 months! He didn't propose as such but made a statement on our balcony here in Zug in the summer after being together for 3 months. We were having brunch and he said 'I think we should get married...' He could have been saying i think we should have coffee as it just came so naturally and easy.. To which I replied 'yes I think so too..' And that was that..

Re: How/where did you propose/get proposed to?

I was a 19 yr old chit living in Budapest, he was a 22 yr old intern from the States when we were introduced to each other. He had reddish hair with gorgeous green eyes and two U2 tickets in his pocket. He asked me to marry him after the concert while walking in the middle of the night the empty streets of Budapest. We've only known each other a few month but I said yes.
17 years and 4 kids later we're still in love. In May we're flying back to the States for our 5th U2 concert together.

Re: How/where did you propose/get proposed to?

We went to Hawaii for holidays and according to my, now, husband I was very jumpy and almost attacked him when he wanted to get something out of my purse. The real reason for this came when we went to visit one of the big telescoped on Hawaii, where he worked the week before I arrived.

I almost violently pushed him to take a picture of the view (wasn't nervous at all....) and when he turned around I was on one knee holding out the ring and crying. My prepared speech had disappeared and was replaced by a flood of tears.

He was kind enough to pull me up, go down on his knee and asked me to marry him. So I am still not sure who proposed (so much for the woman proposing) But we got married June 2010 so it had the right outcome!

Re: How/where did you propose/get proposed to?

In a nice hotel in Kuala Lumpur about five or six years ago (see, memory is fuzzy by now). Being German, he already got the wedding bands. I said yes and the next morning we heard news about the earthquake and subsequent tsunami in Asia and we looked at each other horrified and said almost in unison, "What have we done?"

A classy dinner for two at McDonald's, a fake plastic ring, and hey how about we just tie the knot and see what's up...

Re: How/where did you propose/get proposed to?

Our first date was 4 September 2008 in Greece. He was there for the holidays.
We were together for about ten days and then he had to go back to work in Singapore.
A week after he invited me to go for the F1 race. I said i' 'll visit you for 5 days. I never left.
On May the 1st he proposed to me:
he drove me to the airport, lying that he had to pick up a friend. Instead he rented a plane, he took me up 1000 feet over my hometown headed for my neighborhood, and started orbiting over my home, the very place I was born and bred.
That’s were he presented the ring and told me “if you don’t accept, I’ll crush this plane on your home”. You see, my parents, his parents, my brother and his kids were all down there, waving at us from the terrace, the patio, the ceiling. They all knew! How could I say no now? Wasn’t I forced to accept? He then took me higher, about 3000 feet, into the clouds (literally), and the dream was perfect.
Our wedding was on 19 September 2009. We had 800 guest from almost 20 countries. It was amazing.
I love you Theo (my husband).
