Hotel Recommendations in Dijon?

Hello All,

Does anyone have a good, mid-range hotel to recommend in Dijon? I'll be going in August for a couple of days and would appreciate any advice, including what not to miss.

Thanks

Hi Snowbear, where did you finally stay in Dijon? I am planning to visit the place and would appreciate if you (or anyone else from the forum) could provide some tips about places to see.

Thanks in advance for your helpful suggestions.

Be careful to check if not one of the many festivals are on while you are there, because you will end up finding NO hotel room at all. Happened to us and just by chance because the other reservation did not show up on time, we got their room. It was sort of a rather inexpensive Etap style hotel just opposite Galeries Lafayette. Don't remember the name though.

If I had another chance I would probably choose this one:

Or the ones recommended by Tripadvisor

I've never stayed in hotels in Dijon (spend 4 years there, still go there to visit my brother and stays with him), but I would recommend you stay as much as possible in the center, close to Place Darcy ou Palais des Ducs. Currently they are building the tram, so expect some congestions and delays. If time go to Marsannay-La-Cote for some wine tasting, not so famous as the ones of South of Beaune but still very decent red wine. Have a jog around the lake (3 kms overall).
Don't miss out on the Maille shop (mustard and other delights such as creme de cassis).
Expect also a "emptyish" city as the students are gone...

Hi Zyxel,

if and when you try out the suggested places, do update this thread - information might be useful to others.

Re: Hotel Recommendations in Dijon?

Hi all,

In the end we didn't stay overnight in Dijon. The charming hotels all seemed to be out of town and we weren't driving.

It was a really easy journey with the TGV from Lausanne and back. Quite a good day trip, with time for visiting the main museums, shopping for wine and mustard, a meal on a terrace and home before 10:00pm.

Enjoy!
