Yet Another Thread About Songs - Backing Vocals

....I know...I know

What's inspired this one is listening to the music I've got on here at work all on my ownsome.

It's the Shirelles' "Will You Still Love Tomorrow"

For those who know the song, does it ever sound to you like the backing singers are singing "shut it up, son...shut it up, son"

Years and years ago, when a group of us used to go on an annual beano (remember them!), one of the lads could do a really mean version of Elvis Presley's "Teddy Bear". The rest of us would sing "Hot Bananas" as the backing vocals to accompany him. I still don't know whether this is what's actually sung on the original or not!

Anyone know of any gems hidden away among the backing vocals of songs?

I can tell you I'm not looking forward to going back to having to wear suits, travelling in and out of Liverpool Street station every day and not being able to listen to music as I work!

Not so much backing vocals but whenever I hear "How deep is your love" by the BeeGees I think they're singing "And you come to me in a submarine"

Of course if you want to hear more misheard lyrics, you can always visit "The archive of misheard lyrics"at:: http://www.kissthisguy.com/

Carrie has made some interesting contributions
Re: Yet Another Thread About Songs - Backing Vocals

When I was 6, I asked for the Olivia Newton-John album for Christmas and was known to sing "Magic" as follows

"And if all your hopes survive
Dustin' me with a rag" (instead of "Destiny will arrive")

Too young to know about destiny, but old enough to know that my parents regulary polished the coffee table with a rag.

Now you're wondering, why would I think a person might need dusting?
Don't know exactly, but I knew that grown-ups did lots of weird things I didn't understand!!!

I also couldn't understand ACDC's "Dirty Deeds." I used to sing it "Dirty Deeds and the Dunder Chief."

Yep, people, must be another Native American tribe not unlike the Iroquoi or the Apache - I present you the Dunders!!!

P.S. It is Sunday so hopefully no one will accuse me of having a boring job!

I always love hearing that. I'd always assumed he was laughing at the backing singer, and he probably was....but I was interested to see the comments about the man in the audience flicking off his toupee after Elvis sang "Do you gaze at your bald head and wish you had hair"
