I was in England recently and was ( half) listening to the weather forecast. They were discussing the large amount of rainfall we are experiencing here in our part of Europe, along with ' the cause ' of it. I missed it though.

Does anyone out there have any idea just where It's all coming from and ( more importantly) when it will stop and give us a break from our brollies? I'm really sick of it raining every day. Especially, like lots of others who have just returned from holiday where we've enjoyed waking up every day to sunny blue skies. - depressing!

I have checked and collected data. the rain is coming from the sky and mostly from beastly clouds

I blame Iceland and their Kylaldkalkjadflkjuakd;lkajleurkak;luei%% Volcano.

First, they bankrupt themselves, and now they steal my summer weather. Jerks.

Might be even more depressing for those who have come from far away to enjoy a hiking holiday in Switzerland. But the rain has been intermittent, with dry spells almost every day.

Hard to see the mountains with all the clouds, though.

All in all I would say that the bottle is at least half full

Except that the weather has been nice everywhere else, even the UK.

Let's face it, the summers here aren't that special and this year we got 3 weeks of good weather.

What about that bloody heatwave we had a couple of weeks ago? That was ridiculous!

It seems people here prefer grey, rainy weather rather than hot sun. Good for you, but bad for me as I prefer a real summer. I miss the 'heat wave'. I'd take that over the current november weather any day.

True story, Hashbrown, November weather in August is a load of balls. And it's not true that CH doesn't get real summers, I've been here 6 years, and I've never seen this type of shit.

Sorry guys, I remember a couple of weeks exactly like this last summer... it sticks out particularly as I was dog / house sitting for a couple of weeks and had not packed for such weather.

I'm not sure what weather info sources you may prefer but back in the day (before moving here) I used to discuss with my (now) hubby the weather happening in Florida and how it eventually affected him here.



The big storms (and hurricanes) originate off the African coast, come across the Atlantic picking up warm moist air... much of the water gets dropped on wherever the storm hits landfall BUT as apparently the oceans are getting warmer, there apparently is still potential to pick up more water if the storm bumps along the coast on it's trek up the eastern US.

Next, the storm comes back east across Greenland and Iceland (give or take some latitude north or south) and then toward Europe. Whether it hits more toward England or France depends... but in comparison to Switzerland, both are relatively flat soooooo the storm gets "here" and the mountains "scrape" and "squeeze" the clouds, forcing the moisture out - onto us. Since it has gone a bit north and then come south to get us, the moisture contained (as well as the winds) have cooled a bit. Hitting those tall mountains with snow on them cools it further soooo there we go.
