| | Fantastic colour photos of small town US in the 30's and 40's
I thought some of our US members would enjoy seeing these fascinating colour photographs from the 30's and 40's. |

Absolutely amazing how much has changed in 70 years.

Thank you for posting those GG!
Makes me think of the driving trips we took when I was young. Even though by then it was the '70s and '80s, some areas of some towns look very much the same with exception of the automobiles and in some cases (but not all) the fashions worn.
Actually, driving US-1 from Daytona south to Fort Lauderdale you still see some dinky towns with the same buildings, signage and even some similar era autos parked out front.

Noticing the date of most of the pictures, were they trying to rub it in as to what a good time they were having while the rest of the world was fighting WWII?
Fascinating pictures though.

Great find GG. Really enjoyed looking through them. It's funny though, I guess we're used to looking at photos from that era in black and white. Looking at them in colour makes it seem not so long ago - to me anyway.
Oh, and I feel a bit dumb as well as on more than one occasion I did a right click to get the EXIF data, completely forgetting that, of course, these were shot with good old film (actually radically new film for the time) |

I don't now, no BUT as I still have family and friends in the Daytona area I hope to go sometime within the next year and I am "aching" for a drive so I likely will after that. |

A little more recent, but also check out these photos of NYC in the 70s: http://wirednewyork.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16970
Takes me to a totally different time (and one that I'm old enough to remember).

Great pix! Makes me homesick just a bit. I love photography, and thanks for sharing them.

Thanks for the link! It's incredible to see it in color. While browsing the pictures, the Cohen movie "O Brother" came to my mind....
