Viking burials recognised in Denmark

Y' all going to love this trawled gem of information.
Denmark allows neo-Wiking and recognizes Odin and Wodan as legitimate gods
There is a growing or a refound Odinic religious movement in Denmark the "Forn Sidr."
They are allowed marry in the faith, receive donations and enjoy tax breaks, just like any other religion.
Also they have a burial ground in Odense using Wiking burial methods there is a monolithic stone site in the shape of a Wiking ship, maybe more "Conan" then "eaters of the dead"

But then again..
"Lo there do I see my father.
Lo there do I see my mother.
Lo there do I see my brothers and my sisters.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the beginning.
Lo they do call to me;
they bid me take my place among them in the Halls of Valhalla,
where the brave may live forever."

Does that involve slaughterung the animals and wife, packing them on a boat and setting fire to it?

Don't know, but it could be a method of getting rid of the mother in law.

Sadly no. Most boats are made of fiberglass today, and this produces unhealthy fumes when burned, putting spectators health and safety at risk.

Doc.

Hmm! Maybe there could be money made building C02 neutral and environmentally friendly Viking burial boats.

Re: Wiking burial

We have had active Nordic Mythology (Asatru) as a religious organisation for quite a while in Iceland it is quite big actually. If I would be forced to join a religion, that would be my option.

Why?
Because they keep up with our old customs, customs we were forced to drop by *erhm* the Danish when we turned Christians.
I have gone to some of their events and it is always a great fun. They don't really believe in Thor, Odin and co, they more focus on the power of mother nature. Suits me well.

If I ever get married I'd much rather choose a Viking style wedding than do it in a church.

Sod burning the MIL she's a good cook and her broomstick only touches down here occasionally. Better to round up all the fluffs on here and cast them adrift in a burning kayak.... the Swiss would frown on burning all the wood to make a long boat, but no one would miss the fluffs

13th Warrior, great movie BTW
