Love this programme to bits. I know some of you think that's sad, but whatever floats your boat eh?
Not sad at all! This thread is specially for X Factor fans. Woe betide anyone who dares diss the show. They'll have to get past me first

I think Cher might not everyone's cup of tea in the long run. I love the rap twists she puts on her songs but I know I will get tired of it after a couple of rounds and it has the potential to go disastarously wrong.

And the girl from Liverpool that you're talking about is Rebecca Ferguson and yes, if only she puts a lid on her emotions!! Her voice is like no other. Love it. She and Matt have my vote to win.

I really like him too. Best of all he has no idea just how good he is.

The one person I am surprised didn't get through is the girl who was training to be a horse dentist, I thought she was good.

Ms Waissal's voice is something that's easier on the ears than Ms Ferguson's.
According to the Daily Wail, she also has a recording contract! It must be true right?

Thanks for putting the Matt video on. I can't stop listening to him, he makes me 'well up'. Hope there is more great singing from him to come.

I love the way he didn't stand there and churn out all the stuff about how much they want this and have dreamed about it since they were in the womb blah blah blah. Yuck!! It's all so false He is passionate and that is all we need to know. His voice says it all. Love him!
My favourite all time winner ( pop idol) was Will Young. I just love him and there isn't enough of him. Where has he gone?

I love Matt's choice of song - think he was awfully brave to have picked a song originally by a female singer and made it his own. I've heard lots of different versions of that song (George Michael, Leona Lewis, Johnny Cash) and think his is the best! They should definitely make him release it as a single.

Will Young is still around. He just released a new song with Groove Armada. I remember his time during Pop Idol. He went to the same uni as I did and I believe the whole student population was voting for him. Huge party on the night of the finals and everyone was so chuffed when he won. Deservingly so...over whats-his-name?

I liked the guy from Hull who had had 20 jobs and was 20 . He cocked up his audition but there was something about him, thought it was a shame they didn't give him a chance yet they let some truly hideous ones through to the next round

And what on earth is with the over 28's group? the guy with the long bleached hair?

It's one of my favourite all time songs and ahem our wedding band (who happened to be Journey South ) also sang that song on X Factor

P.S Stereophonics version is pretty good

Re: X-Factor 2010

For me, currently Matt Cardle and Gamu Nhengu.
Both of them spine-tingling vocalists.

I kind of like Storm as well. Daft name though.

But it all depends on how they develop.

Diva Fever need to be taken out somewhere quietly and disposed of.

Not really surprising, My brother is a magician and children's entertainer (been voted children's entertainer of the year 2 years running), A researcher from Brittan's got talent visited him to try to get him to go on the show, but you have to sign a contract that gives simon the rights to your act name and act content regardless if you win or even appear on tv, he refused.

I would imagine xfactor do a similar thing, you can't really leave it to chance that decent singers are just going to turn up.

Re: X-Factor 2010

I suspect that certain contestants are picked because they will generate lots more publicity - it always seems to be that way.
Pick 5/6 with the real talent and out of who is left pick the "different" ones with "dodgy families/love lives etc - so they will always be on the front of the red top newspapers.

Rebecca is my favourite - seems like a lovely girl (bit like Leona )

Re: X-Factor 2010

I'm not surprised by Simon's picks at all. Both of the "thrown together" groups seemed to take this change pretty seriously so I'm not terribly "bothered" by it... I really liked the personality of Princes & Rogues had as a group though.

Cheryl had a tough choice and although - particularly "knowing" that she has / had a record contract in the US - I wouldn't have put through Katie Waissel, out of the girls, I'd have had a tough time narrowing it down to less than four as I liked Gamu Nhengu and Keri Arrindell. I agree with having Rebecca and although I really like Cher, I think it wouldn't have "hurt" her to wait another year or two in favor of keeping either Gamu or Keri in.

I'm really pleased with Louis pics for the over 28s. I don't really think that either Mary or Storm has "the x factor" in terms of being a current pop artist BUT I think they certainly have talent that should be recognized and showcased. Hopefully being on the show will help make some magic for them, even though I doubt it will be much radio play... although it's not completely unheard of for artists to suddenly become (more) known later in life. (Bonnie Raitt comes to mind.)

I'm a bit disappointed with Dannii that neither Karl Brown nor Marlon McKenzie made it through. I thought they both had qualities that "ticked all the boxes" pretty much. On the other hand, I think it will be fantastic to watch Nicolo and I've already admitted to really liking Matt Cardle. I think that Aiden Grimshaw could have been left out in favor of either Karl or Marlon.

Re: X-Factor 2010

Is Cheryl still heavily dosed on malaria drugs or what..?!

Katie "can't sing" Waissel got through but Gamu "who can really sing!" didn't..!?!?

They did say watch next Saturday for "a twist".. I'm betting they let the tabloids have a field day with this and then bring Gamu back as a 13th contestant.

According to this

Insiders have suggested that the judges will be allowed to choose one disappointed singer to return for next week’s show but claim that Cheryl chose Treyc and not Gamu.
