Vegetable orchestra

I was watching this current affairs program on the French TV and they mentioned this crazy vegetable orchestra from Oesterreich. Not far from CH. First link I found is in French but the video embedded is just plain music. Out of vegetables.

Enjoy.

Re: Vegetable orchestra

Do they play cover versions of 'The Red Hot Chili Peppers'?

Re: Vegetable orchestra

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that I've wasted many, many hours of my life whittling away at carrots in an attempt to transform them into musical instruments. Advice for anyone who's thinking of trying this at home:

1. Use the sharpest and smallest blade possible. Scalpels are good.

2. Electric drills are highly efficient at both creating holes and generating copious amounts of carrot juice. So don't use a nice drill.

3. The whole operation is exceedingly messy. Regardless of the type of vegetable you choose, you'll end up with sticky hands and a very messy table.

4. It's hard to get so much as a faint whistle out of a carrot. The best vegetable flutes seem to styled after ocarinas as opposed to recorders. This totally vegetable-ocarina-obsessed Japanese guy has some great videos on YouTube. For example, here's "Angels We Have Heard on High" played on broccoli with harpisichord accompaniment:

and below is an instructional video for how to make a carrot ocarina.

Anyway.

I'll go now.
