Re: 15 storey Hotel built in 2 days!

Is this the first Ikea hotel to be build? flatpacked and quickly assembled for your comfort

It was build in six days (136 working hours), still impressive.https://wocview.wordpress.com/2010/1...working-hours/

Although its prefab, the concrete base structure has crossings. These crossings should be shuttered and concreted. Concrete has 21 days to achieve its full hardness. When the structure is fully charged after a shorter time will leave its mark in the density of the concrete. Thus, the iron structure will not be fully supported.

wonder how quick it will collapse.. wouldn't feel safe sleeping in there

Re: 15 storey Hotel built in 2 days!

Yep but thats a house, nowhere near the same weight a fully loaded 15 storey hotel.

Can't imagine what would happen if the concrete gives in under the load..

I know houses being build in 3 days, " kijk & bouw " ( watch and build) is a company that does the same, walls are ready made and delivered on site, yet quality vrs fast buidling.. not sure.

But what do i care, i rent

Their website says there was no cocrete mixed on site.

Google translation from Chinese:

Quote:
At the construction site, construction workers even though very busy, but the scene that there is no "construction site" messy. Crane from the flatbed truck on several lifting a piece from a special steel, foam wall panels, pipes, flooring and other accessories, assembly workers to turn to a predetermined position. There was no excavators, cement mixers, and no common civil works construction site.

Enhancing the Stability, we only point construction, is the excavation of building foundation and other civil works of traditional reinforced concrete building are missed.

They claim that it is level 9 earthquake resistant. I tend to agree with you. I wouldn't want to be in there to test its resistance

Yep i'm with you on that one.
Last earthquake in China left big so called strong buildings flat on the ground.

Agreed the base only gave in a bit, the rest is still " complete", but doesn't mean they will re-open in the next few hours

They've even built a 5th Gen. stealth fighter - the Chengdu J20 ( looks like an F22 Raptor ) that has got some people worried.

Re: 15 storey Hotel built in 2 days!

It is sexy to see proper work getting done....one should also take into consideration, that they worked at night (something totally outrageous here). It was probably also double the workforce than such a construction site would have in Switzerland.

I forgot to add that they just unveiled the world's longest bridge at 26.4 miles length, 5 miles longer than Dover to Calais!

Re: 15 storey Hotel built in 2 days!

They have cheap "hands", money and resources. They just need to hire some engineers and they can built anything. We can already see some amazing examples!
