Mietkautionskonto-accounts, possible for share accommodation?

Can you use them for shared accommodation or is it soley for the rental of an entire property.

I ask this because I am moving to Geneva need to organize accommodation, share is fine but totally tired of cons. I dont arrive in Geneva until late feb so Ive registered and seem to have found some alright places.

I reckon 50-75% are cons or unsuitable. Obviously I cant visit. So to register interest and secure accommodation can I go about setting up a joint account? like the Mietkautionskonto for shared.

I'm certain this has probably been asked 100 times.. so its like a bump and
any other recommendations are welcomed. Its a big move from Down under, looking forward to escaping these floods, its chaos is ruling Brisbane and Lockyer and Toowoomba.

Re: Mietkautionskonto-accounts, possible for share accommodation?

the deposit account can be held in multiple names for sure, so if you're sharing with people and moving into the apartment together it's quite common to have two names on the deposit account... not more though from experience.

if someone is already living in the place and they require a deposit then just a signed piece of paper with when the deposit should be paid, who to, and on what condition should any amounts be deducted etc...

I wouldn't transfer any money before looking at a place, meeting the people and getting keys, well at least before the said contract is signed by both parties...

There is an alternative. You pay a subscription every month and the organisation guarentees your "rental deposit obligation".

http://www.swisscaution.ch/en/home you can make a contract at the Post Office, but it is not cheap.

http://www.ktipp.ch/themen/beitrag/1...e_bei_der_Post

Expensive rental guarantee at the post by Sabine Rinder, editorial balance.

The Post recently sold at the counter a "rental guarantee without bank deposit." The offer is from the insurance SwissCaution. The purpose of the thing: Who does not have enough money for a Mietdepot added, can be insured with SwissCaution. The insurance guarantees with respect to the landlord for an amount in the amount of the deposit. The catch: This coverage must pay the tenant expensive. SwissCaution requires a registration fee of 231 francs. From the following year, the annual premium each 5 percent of the bail amount and a management bonus plus stamp duty of 20 francs. That's a lot of money: for a monthly rent of 2,000 francs and a depot hedge 6,000 francs paid by a tenant in five years nearly 2,000 francs. A bad deal. After all, who in same period of 6000 francs a normal Mietdepot does receive back the full amount at the end - And still accrue interest. Mariano Masserini confirmed by the high cost of post: "Such a service has its price." The Post get a commission per trade as usual. net advises: Connect a lease interest guarantee from only if you afford to lack of funds, the custodian can not. Terminate immediately if you have enough cash have to arrears of the depot.

You can open the Mietzinskautionskonto at any Bank, you don't need to be a customer. You need to liase with the landlord, as his name has to be on the joint account. Normally the landlord opens the account for you.
