Apartment near Parc des Eaux-Vives Geneva [Advice Needed]

Hi all,

We are looking for our first apartment in Geneva and viewed a place on Route de Frontenex near Parc des Eaux-Vives this morning. I was wondering if anybody had any advice or thoughts on this area of Geneva as a place to live?

Thanks,

Ben

Re: Apartment near Parc des Eaux-Vives Geneva [Advice Needed]

Parc des Eaux-Vives is my second favourite parc of Geneva. Also quite an old place as it was first occupied by farmers a very very very very long time ago....

I've been working in the Eaux-Vives and it's a place I would like to live in.

Now that depends where the flat is exacly.... (do you see the street ?)

Generally speaking a nice area. Not sure if right on the road, there may be quite a bit of traffic/tram noise, etc. Parc eaux-vives is very nice, be aware, like most places of walking through there at night though. If working on the other side of the river/lake, living in that area could be making your commute a bit difficult, ie. all transport goes over the Mt. Blanc bridge, which is very congested at work hour commute. If working on that side though, it is better.

Thanks both.

The street is Route des Frontenex, it's about half way up Parc des Eaux-Vives, along from the Athletics track and Caterpillar building.

That's true about commuting, my girlfriends work is in Eaux Vives so it's perfect for her, about a 15 minute walk. I'm currently looking for work so it makes little difference to me at the moment. I suppose we have to pick one bank or the other!

We've been told how difficult it can be to find a flat in Geneva so we're thinking we should just go for it. However it's only the first place we have seen so there's just a doubt as always that there might be somewhere better out there for us.

It is difficult and there's always a better place... Just visit the place again, and if you feel good there, just go for it.

Hi there. I live in Eaux-Vives and love the area. Especially the park. My only doubts would be commuting and noise, but if the apartment has any other view than street I'm sure it's fine. Actually there are some rather posh places around there... And commuting can be a minor issue -- I tend to walk to work, even if it's 30 minutes (e.g. to Manor/Seujet) because I prefer the exercise and the city views to the jam on Pont du Mont Blanc... I'd rather take the time than live in Paquis!

BTW, there's a huge competition for apartments! We were lucky but some friends have been looking for 3-6 months. I'd say go for it and you can still turn it down no problem, if something better turns up.
