Fallout Shelters

Just curious about the nuclear fallout shelters y'all have. What are the requirements. Which houses? Any interesting tid-bits? Opinions on the laws regarding them?

Varies from commune to commune. I have one in my house and I am allegedly supposed to let my neighbours in when y'all drop the bomb.

Oh hang on, Dubya's now on a golfing vacation, it's a computer/storage/entertainment room

Do you find that they are a necessity? I mean, I'm assuming this will increase the price of housing substantially.

Because there is such a demand for it?
That was cold war, and a few decades back. I don't know about any around here.

No. And no, not really.

In the first house I purchased, there was a community shelter somewhere. I don't know where but there was no need for my 2005-built house to have a shelter.

When it all goes titsup, I'll be milking the last out of the Internet, TV and electricity supply before I depart.

If one could say they are a necessity based on experience you would have read about it .

So you don't find it to be necessary, but you appreciate it to a degree?

I suppose in the event of a nuclear holocaust, they'll become exceedingly popular and maybe even a necessity.

But today? Nope.

Perhaps I will have to become one. Depends on how many Dubya's present themselves.

They used to be required ... I am not sure if they are any more.

If you have a choice, don't put one in. They have huge doors which are in the way., and useless equipment ... and if you've got one it is for sure stocked with wine or a deep freeze or both and you have to empty it every now and again for the inspection.

We applied to get rid of ours and did not succeed. Refused. Apparently ours is necessary, although it is for 3 people, and we are four. My husband says I am the one who cannot use it because I'm the foreigner, I say it's for the wife and kids, and he should/ would be out fighting for his country anyway :-)

I feel as though I might be a bit more apprehensive about the whole inspection idea.

Re: Fallout Shelters

No, come on, there are reasons why you should not be.

1. They're nice people - look

2. They have no right to enter your home in Oklahoma
