Thanks, guys! With all these tips, I am now ready to compose my own Craigslist scams and avoid detection.

Local phone number, check
Prices quoted in CHF, check
Spell check, check
Google local details, check
My thought exactly, why T.F. am I still sitting at my desk???
And then you all botch it by mentionaing A/C, concierge, number pad at front door, non-multiple-of-rent security deposit, or picture where you can see non Swiss power sockets or the even the sea.

But looking at the recent Craigslist offers most of this mistakes are no longer present. The best discriminator is the price. I actually wonder what would happen if I apply to this one here:

which is a copy of this one:

Re: Scam: craigslist Basel

Not sure this will end up as a reply to Scam: craigslist Basel (which it is meant as).

The guy is at it again, this time as Thomas Ptasik [email removed], for a flat in Basel, via immoscout24 (https://twitter.com/ImmoScout24ch/st...61144575926272)

"Thanks for taking the time to look at my apartment. I bought this apartment for my daughter during her studies in Switzerland, but now she's back home permanently, so I'm renting the place for unlimited time.
Before we go any further I would like to know a little something about you, like how many persons you intend to live in the apartment, and for how long.
Also, very important, the utilities (cold/hot water, electricity, wireless broadband Internet, digital TV, 1 parking spots etc.) are INCLUDED in the price of 1,340 CHF/month. As for me, you can rest assured that I will never ask you to leave the apartment.
Now, a little bit about myself so we can get to know each other better. My name is Thomas Ptasik and I'm a 73 years old structural engineer. I worked hard to have a good career and I really respect hard earned money. The company I work for they have projects all around the world so most of my time I'm traveling.
I'm in Spain now and I work for a new project here and the only inconvenience is that my job doesn't allow me to leave Spain even for one single day. We just hired some new staff and I'm in charge of their training.
But this won't affect you at all. I can make arrangements to rent the apartment on my expense of course.
I'm looking for an honest person who keeps the house clean and in good condition.
If you are interested in the apartment, I would be happy about a future contact.
With best regards,
Thomas Ptasik"
